I saw this movie in theaters and, as a fan of the original 1960's cartoon, found it immensely enjoyable. It's a shame it has largely become forgotten.

I LOVE this movie! It was the very first movie I watched in theaters when I was 10! And it really shouldn't have been forgotten, though I don't think it needs a sequel since it works very well on its own

When I was younger this was my absolute favourite film for some reason, I watched it so much when I was little that my parents stopped taking out the disc from the TV and just left it in for me to watch 😅

This movie's such a hidden gem.

I'm just so surprised I actually enjoyed this movie more than I expected. I never knew it's source material, but it's just a fluffy time travelling movie I enjoy so much as I'm a sucker for time travel stuff, so it's definitely a underrated DreamWorks movie that should deserve more attention. Please watch it if possible, it deserves the love!

I used to watch this movie *ALL THE TIME* I even have it on dvd.

My brother and i loved it, too!

Do not lose hope, this film has its admirers and it's a cult classic. But this movie deserves a sequel (or at least a reboot). If Puss In Boots: The Last Wish can become a buzzworthy film (over a decade since the last one), why can't Peabody and Sherman? Just because something sells (like, say, The Boss Baby) doesn't mean its good. Van Gogh never sold one of his paintings in his lifetime.

Underrated gem of a film. I love historically-inspired animation that doesn't take itself too seriously and keeps things fun to watch.

I loved this movie as a kid. This, ROTG, TPOE, and the Shrek franchise are the best Dreamworks films to me. I'd include Sinbad and TRTED, but I have issues with their stories and characters.

El Dorado is trash

It really is sad that bad movies become franchises whiles the underrated movies fall into the void. I would watch Mr Peabody and Sherman any day over Boss Baby.

I really like this movie, but my biggest gripe with it is the Penny & Sherman romance. It just feels really shoehorned, and also it gets in the way of funny interactions with historical figures

I love this movie so much. I’m not going to pretend that it’s better than how to train your dragon or king du panda, but it is just such a good ride and so nostalgic. The music actually slaps in this movie too. This movie is on my top movies list, especially when it comes to underrated movies, up there with Atlantis the lost empire (such a good movie, I always suggest it, my favorite Disney movie), titan ae and the road to el dorado

I was thinking about this film yesterday. I watched it when I was a wee little child, and I never really got around to watching it again.

The funniest joke in this movie, when taken out of context, is "Sherman, I gotta get you outta here before you touch yourself!"

Another underrated movie is Epic! (Yes, the movie’s literally called Epic) SERIOUSLY, this movie has got to be more appreciated!! Someone please, talk about this!

I remember seeing this in the theater with my family and I liked it enough.

Like with MegaMind, it's surprising how applicable and relevant the themes of Mr.Peabody+Sherman are, and upon rewatch through this review, the cartoon-inspired looks of it make it seem like it and Home, not just Captain Underpants and Spiderverse, are responsible for some of the cartoonish push of 3D Animation. Its spinoff TV show feels like a modern Time Squad, although much more 2010s than Time Squad was 2000s. It accidentally got sabotaged by timing of things. I guess it pays off that both are solo-films, pockets that break the Dreamworks-Franchise habit. I do remember watching the Netflix show a lot when I was younger, but what hurt it is a lack of connection to the films. Like a reverse Penguins of Madagascar situation, actually, which may be fitting as they both had films in the same year. No Penny, no one else.

Time Squad was inspired by Peabody and Sherman.

I appreciate that this film's story is crazy and yet contained. Perhaps the "contained" part was an issue for younger audiences but I watched this as a teenager and enjoyed that it didn't feel like it needed to be epic every second of the runtime. That there is a simple story about family and growing up connecting all the campy shenanigans. It makes it more timeless and still enjoyable to watch for me as an adult. Though I am an animator so it's not like I fall into the typical demographic.

i watched in theatres and recorded it when it came to tv (i mustve been about 10-11), and its one of those movies I would watch at least once every 1-2 days. I loved it and never got sick of it. Haven't seen it for a while, but I still hold this movie very close to my heart, and I do wish it got a bit more love. However, I am glad it isnt huge because what I think helps it keep its charm is its small audience. Its not a franchise that everyone knows and continues to jam down your throats like squid games or stranger things, or yes, boss baby (i almost couldnt finish typing that). I like that its a cult classic, I just wish it was profitable.

I used to be obsessed with this film when I first saw the trailer at 8 years old. Looking back the jokes are a lot funnier now than before especially with the scene with Robespierre being zapped. There were only like 2 jokes that didn’t land very well but that’s barely anything. Looking back I’d say the only things that hold this movie from truly being masterful is Penny’s characterization, she should’ve just been the bully character trying to change after realizing what she did was bad in like the 2nd act of the movie instead of being the love interest who felt sorry near the very end. Like instead of her blaming Peabody for Sherman “being a hooligan” because he’s gonna be taken away as if she wasn’t bullying him in the first place into biting her she should’ve been apologizing to Sherman in that scene. Also is no one talking about how Agamemnon has the same voice actor as Ken from the Bee Movie? Might I add Peabody is probably my favorite character in this movie. He has to be the best parent character in animation media along with Po’s dad he takes Sherman on cool history adventures and cares about him to the point of hurting anyone who takes Sherman away from him. Even when Sherman was yelling at him it was because Sherman doesn’t want to be away from him, meaning he did a good job raising him. But not to the point where he seems like an unrealistic parent character either he does get mad at Sherman a little bit by growling cause he’s a dog and didn’t tell him that he was gonna be taken away before Penny came over. If I were to adopt kids when I’m older he along with other parent characters (Bandit, Chili, Mirabel’s parents, etc.) are characters I will and should look up to.

I've never seen it. I was just watching someone talk about old cartoons and they mentioned that this one from the 60s that I saw a few times on the cartoon network as a kid in the 90s got a movie in 2014 and was mildly curious. I kept waiting for you to mention the original cartoon. You stood me up smartypants.

I remember I watched this for my 10th birthday party, my whole class came and we rented out the theater. I remember everyone saying how good of a movie choice it was

I loved this movie so much! There was actually a 2d animated show they made after it, and it wasn't as good, but I still remember watching it as a kid and looking at all sorts of historical events in an understandable and entertaining lens.

Another factor as to why this film would never get a sequel is because the Jay Ward estate ended their relationship with DreamWorks/Classic media. They are now partnering with Wildbrain so it's likely that any upcoming Peabody and sherman product will be done by them

After my previous comment, I found out that a few years ago Jay Ward Productons' contract with Dreamworks expired and that Jay Ward Productions now has a contract with WildBrain Studios (best known for the new Peanuts cartoons/specials on AppleTv+). So, if there is a new Peabody and Sherman movie, it will be by WildBrain, not Dreamworks. I still would like to see a sequel to MPAS though.

I loved this movie and for a while I thought it was a pretty big movie but like 2 years later, I looked it up and there were like only clips from the movie, and no one was talking about it.

Finally someone who gets it! Its totally underrated, also I'm with you on boss baby!

I used to absouletly adore this movie

It appears that there is one risky option to revive this film, which is to do a crossover with a film familiar to Mr. Peabody and Sherman; what is it? Yes, Penguins of Madagascar it has animal characters with above-average intelligence too, even more than humans.

I don't think it was the most charming and certainly not the best DreamWorks movie, but I did like it and it is certainly underrated. It didn't do well and audiences didn't connect with it which is sad b/c it is worth your time. Great animation, especially for its time of release.

I’m not sure about the US but I was 10 when this movie came out and In the uk I saw this movie everywhere more then captain America which surprised me knowing they came out near the same town I saw this mckie when it came out and it was watched a few times in school and after the time then I never heard or saw about it since and only remember it after seeing it on Amazon prime when I wanted to put something on for my brother and personally this movie is still good I really liked it then still is a good film to watch and would hope if there is anything in the future about this movie that it doesn’t turn into this megamind sequel

I don't think Mr. Peabody was the issue there. That came down to management and marketing decisions as best as I have researched. Mr. Peabody was further along in production schedules and would have been released with or without the shadow-themed film.

EXHIBIT A: they both made by DreamWorks EXHIBIT 2: they both have egypt as location EXHIBIT DURRR BURGER: they both really amazing! EXHIBIT Σ: "If a man can have a waifu," I dunno about Exhibit Σ, but the rest is pretty solid

I think Boss Baby shouldn’t work as a short, instead of a feature, but Mr. Peabody and Sherman I wish it was a box office success, if they re-release the film, if people loved it more than The Boss Baby. Ever since DreamWorks Animation just scrapped their good films, I feel like they’re becoming like how Sony Pictures Animation did in the past and Blue Sky Studios when they are becoming weaker, weaker, weaker, weaker, and weaker on their films when they shut down after the Disney’s Acquisition.

OMG, I used to watch it all the time! Maybe it's time to watch it again. Aaaaand, call me weird, but I do ship Mr. Peabody and Leonardo. They just give off a friendly ex vibe to me. Like they'd had a relationship and parted on good (enough) terms.

I didn't find this charming at all. It was boring, Ty Burrell's voice is annoying, Sherman is annoying, the dog father to a boy is just not believable. It just shouldn't exist
