When he started acting he couldn’t speak English -he had to learn his lines by the sound rather than the meaning. One of his first English films was The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Good movie and what a cast! Peter Lorre, George Sanders and the handsome Ricardo Cortez! Yum yum. And how about an honorable mention for the female actress, Virginia Field. She’s terrific especially in her 1940s and 50s movies.

The director adds many little touches to this. Many sets, many camera setups. A real pro. production. Very well photographed and always moving ahead with the story. The beer moment is great. These are all better than the Charlie Chan films. Way better.

Despite the inexcusably egregious cultural misappropriation represented by this series, the same as the Mr. Wong and Charlie Chan series, it always has pleased me that Peter Lorre had the opportunity to star as the martial art practitioner hero of his own series. Even rating co-stars like George Sanders and John Carradine. Really love the flying through the air leap onto the bad guy @107:44.
