Mr Inbetween Season 2 Episodes 7 & 8 || FIRST TIME WATCHING REACTION

Season 2 Episode 7: Watch Out For Snakes
Ray is happy to do favours for people when necessary, but very rarely forgives when someone crosses him.
Season 2 Episode 8: See You in Your Dreams
An old friend takes the fall and an associate pays for past misdeeds.
"Mr Inbetween" is a half-hour comedy series inspired by the cult film "The Magician" and centers around Ray Shoesmith. Juggling a relationship, parental responsibilities, friendships and a sick brother while earning a living would be difficult for anyone, but it's particularly difficult for Ray since he's a criminal for hire. Ray "takes care of people" -- collecting debts, relieving them of drugs and guns, and often taking care of them on a more permanent basis. Ray demands respect and does not tolerate it when someone disregards his very clear code of ethics.
Directed by Nash Edgerton
Starring: Scott Ryan, Damon Herriman, Brooke Satchwell and Justin Rosniak

When Rey is doing his interview, saying he never had regrets about any of his victims, he's not being honest, since we saw how unhappy he was in season 1 when Freddy gave him the wrong target. I think Rey is just good at compartmentalising, based on what he has experienced in his past, both from his upbringing and the military. As for the dog, I'm sure he felt that as well, but he has a tendency to lie to himself to justify what he does, and to remain professional.

The amount of pain and suffering someone like Ray tolerates is extreme. But that's the job, it's a hyperbolic example of how far someone can go, and still maintain some level of normality outside the chaos of their personal lives. Such brilliant writing and such a great show. As sad and as tough it can be to watch.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but this show is based on a movie from 2005 called The Magician. Might be worth watching that as well. Its the same character, but the premise is that a student film maker is following him making a documentary about his crimes. Its really good.

It's excellent. While it's the same character, it's not the same story. The movie is set in Melbourne and it ends in a way that makes this series being a continuation of ray's story anywhere in Australia in the same theatrical universe pretty unlikely. The same central theme is there though, a deep and unconventional examination of the morality of violence. In the series you actually here someone call Ray "The Magician" I think twice, from memory.

You have to think that biker gang leader is no real good guy. Only in the sense that Ray is. All do bad things for money. Likely have folks killed or kill them. You don't hire a killer to take out the head of a biker gang that just takes joy rides.

The spot for The Pres hit is just around the bay from Sydney Airport. So you have the aircraft noise obscuring the sound of the shot and the lights of the industrial complex obscuring the muzzle flash. They were just lucky there weren't any other cars parked there but it's probably late at night between 11:30 and 00.00, before airport curfew.

When you say don't kill the dog as a writing technique, that's american screenwriting rules. Aussies love dogs too but it isn't an end-all like it is for Americans, they have a far more utlilitarian view on animals as its a dangerous country for wildlife. That scene is a great one - 2 punch reminding you, that Ray is not a great guy, as nice as you may find him to his daughter, his family and his friends. Man I cried rewatching the 8th ep with you, thats such a powerful episode, when TV moves you, that's how you know you are watching something special, even on a rewatch in a tiny box.

did so well with the dog shooting , laughed when you bought up John Wick, ep 8 was pretty rough fair enough there , as someone who has very little female contact i really enjoy your reactions

Don’t get me wrong I can tear up at the easiest sting pull… but today’s episodes I had no emotion towards any scene. Thanks Chrissie. ☺️
