This is truly one of the best Australian series. The song that you liked at the end, Reckless, is by Australian Crawl. A legendary Australian band from the 1980s. Appropriate lyrics: "She don't like That kind of behaviour So, throw down your guns Don't be so reckless..."

The significance of the opening scene with the gun is that in Australia we don't have access to those types of guns. They're insanely regulated here so you need a license and to follow regulations and whatnot. That type of gun is not legal in any way, shape or form here. So to get one is obviously a big deal.

I'm not waiting around to see what happens when someone comes at me like that. One of the most surprisingly brilliant shows Ive ever seen! As an afficionado on the hitman - crime genre, what I love about this show is the deadpan Australian humour, and straight down to matter of fact illegal business, and the sheer originality of the main character. Its hard to write or act such a character in this genre that it totally original and different to anything I've seen before! Every half hour episode packs more in than most action thriller crime movies! Absolute dynamite! Ultra Violence or a casual Machine gun shoot out, then back to ordinary Joe Public life with his hilarious friends, relationshi, daughter, employer (Dewy Crowe from Justified!! Another brilliant show!! )! I binged watched every episode/season in two nights! My only criticism is that the lead actor/ writer won't do anymore seasons! BUT, along with half of Australia & those in the know in Hollywood now, I cannot wait to see what he conjures up next!! A Tour De Force in every respect, My eyes and mouth were wide open half the times me watching this show! I never knew what to expect next! It reminds me of rhe impact Tarantino made with Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction! But I much this show for its everday normal context without the typical obvious TV/ movieness! Tense, funny, hardcore, bloody brilliant! 🫡😱

"Dimmies" are Dimsims Davros had too much ego and pride to let things go. Ray did the right thing against the bullies, They had him blocked in, they escalated things, they were both getting out and leaving him and his lady potentially defenceless. He met them head-on and with enough violence to have them intimidated and fleeing in terror and with little more than a sore knee and a scary tale to tell. Men and women generally have different relationships with violence/fighting. Men see it from a frame of protection from harm against other men for themselves and those they care about. It is not as much about inflicting pain as a means to an end. Women generally frame it as bad, dangerous and scary. Those applying it as unreasonable and irresponsible. It is like fire. Fire has potential to hurt everyone BUT directed and used correctly can be the correct tool for effecting a reasonable outcome.

I guess I've never been in a situation of day to day life where violence with a stranger comes up... could a cultural thing (I know us Canadians tend to be more on the polite side - that said we have plenty of a**holes here just like anywhere else). To amswer your questions, I'm a little confused on why violence needs to be present at all lol. Are the only options that he gets beat or beats someone else up? 🤔 I get what your saying but I prefer someone who is level headed and wouldn't want a partner that initiates violence as a general rule.

@@chrissiereacts Thats a great answer I must say. And thank you. I am turkish btw use to living in small town in big city. Its like people know eachother but not too much you know. Anyway when I was 20 years old exactly 20 years ago 4 guys tried to flirt with my ex gf. Normally I am too polite these kind of situations plus if I am with someone else I feel extra respoinsible so I walk away but this time It was impossible. They got off from their car and surrounded us. Eventually we fought I beated two of them but other two guys slapped my ex gf twice. She stood tall and didnt run even I yelled couple of times that ''run'' Then they stabbed me twice. I was strong but 4 guys too much as Ray said in this episode. He is 40 and he has experienced. Anyway my point is sometimes some people ignore your words while you trying to make them calm and finding a reasonable solution. Sometimes it just happens suddenly and you cant even think about what you should do. Later on her family didnt approve our relationship and we had to brake up. Now I'm 40 and when I see a bully guy hits a woman on street I dont walk away. I smash their faces that they should think twice while hitting a woman. Looking forward your next episode :) take care lady

The character Ray has a very binary sense of right and wrong. Not a lot of grey there. It’s all based around necessity (from his perspective) due to his past which will be revealed in later episodes.

@@chrissiereacts Ray reads their intentions and didn't give them a chance to act. The writing gives the cues you need to see their intentions, when one of the only men to get out of the van had a handgun out already. The hunters became the hunted because their prey drew them into an ambush. Turn around is always fair play imo. If you know the kind of real-life Sydney underworld figure Davros is based off, you know Ray spotted hitmen staking out his house (with his daughter inside, no less,) and decided to bring the fight to them.

I don't think you understand the world depicted. In this world, if you don't act first, it could be you getting hurt.

You're commenting on episode 4 of a series in which you've watched 26 episodes and have seen the full picture. It's unfair to expect a new viewer to fully understand "the world depicted" of any series.

@@chrissiereacts I wasn't trying to be mean by my comment. I know the world you live in. It's a nice and good world with none of this stuff coming into it except on the screen. I like this world too. It's the world I inhabit (now). However, I also know the word depicted (to an extent) since I once was on the edge of this world looking in, so to speak. For me it makes perfect sense to take out the first guy as he comes at you with bad intent, before his mate gets close. I would do exactly what he did. Same with the gun stuff. (I don't do gun stuff by the way, because I'm not in his world) He knew that once they had followed him to a deserted industrial that they were after him, so no point in verifying first. the ambusher has the edge. It's what you've gotta do if you want to survive.

Rays a fictitious bloke but it's not far from the truth here in Australia but you won't ever see it, sympathy is a weak and useless emotion as a man I believe life is awesome without it because sympathy is just a band aid to cover the wounds of the weak and I have no band aids or require any 😊
