    I have the small one it works great.had a time figuring out what temperature to start with. If you warm water up first it seems to get way to hot I found cold water and the lowest setting gave the most consistent nice temperature. Got about 15 showers out of the gas.you don't need the sink faucet feature and it has to be on level ground. Could use a couple more pounds of pressure. Was glad to see your review on all three showing the pressure is about same because I was sure that was better on the bigger ones. Not so much so ill stick with the small one.so thanks👍👊

    Yeah I wonder how the pump acts on the one with the on off switch, if the pump has a flow switch sensor that turns pump off if it over pressures or if all that’s nonsense and you can simply ad a in line ball valve to the other hoses.

    Nice comparison, good job. I have the xb13, regarding the shut off, you can buy screw on ball valve shut offs that connect between the hose and shower head for just a couple of bucks at Lowes. A shower head switch like on the larger unit would be nice but this shut off works just fine. Side note, the shower heads That come with the units work best. I experimented with a few over-the-counter shower heads with and without built-in shut offs. They provided poor flow performance compared to the flow rate from the factory provided shower heads. I was going to comment about placing the shower head in the cold water and letting it run to warm your source water temperature in advance but you did a good job doing that. I have the smallest model (xb13) and yeah an internal battery would be nice but I heard good and bad. But quite frankly I just bring an extra set of D batteries if needed. They're readily available in a pinch whereas recharging the internal battery may not be as convenient when camping or hunting.

    The ball valve I'm speaking of is Chrome looking cheap plastic with a small T handle. I saw better looking design and quality on Amazon with a slide lever for about 5 or 6 bucks. I'll probably give those a try one day when my over-the-counter one breaks. Keep up with a good videos. Your test was impressive.

    quick question, is there an issue if you want to conserve water and you put the shower head in the source water bucket while you soap and shampoo and stuff like that, is there an issue with that, I could see rinsing off quickly, putting the shower head in the bucket so the water effectively circulates, then grabbing the head to rinse off again.

  • @MarkThomasBuilder

    @MarkThomasBuilder

    2 жыл бұрын

    The temperature will slowly rise as you do that. If you recirculate the shower head water too long, it will get too hot. I think it will work fine if you soap and shampoo in a normal amount of time.

    Under 100 degrees is a tepid shower. I would use an immersion bucket heater powered by a vehicle inverter. In less than 10 minutes it should be up near 120 degrees, then use a camp shower pump and you're in business. I know this works because I've done it and the total cost would be around $100. Want more hot water? Just use a bigger bucket or a tub.

  • @MarkThomasBuilder

    @MarkThomasBuilder

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes under 100 isn't ideal but it can be cycled though a warm up cycle if you have a few extra minutes. Your heater sounds interesting.

  • @stevec3872

    @stevec3872

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@MarkThomasBuilder Necessity is the mother of invention. In my 50 year old mobile home my 10 gallon water heater died--it's in a closet right at the end of the tub opposite the shower head. Rather than spending $400 on a new one (I'm retired & poor) I got a 17 gallon round tub & put it on top of the old water heater. Got the immersion heater and a camp shower, put a good 15 gallons in the tub, replace the shower head with the camp shower head, plugged in the immersion "bucket heater and gave it a try. It did take awhile to heat that much water, maybe an hour from cold and 5 gallons would be around 10 minutes. I use a laser thermometer to test the water temp and when it's 120-123 I unplug it and take a nice hot shower. Now 120 is just fine for taking a shower with the water falling from above, but it's too hot for you to put your feet into in a bucket. I used this to try out to see how it worked giving time to save for a new water heater but it worked so well that I've kept it for 9 months now. I could see how it would work in a base camp situation or even with a 5 gallon bucket because the equipment would all fit into the bucket. An inverter to the car would be needed to heat the water though.

  • @MarkThomasBuilder

    Most of the time you can shut the shower head off for a minute and then when you start it up, I suggest you spray the water away from you for about 5-10 seconds in case it gets hotter than normal. The unit should refire and you can continue your shower. If it doesn't relight, you will have to reach out to the main unit and switch it off and back on again. This shower tent allows you to just unzip the very bottom so you still have privacy.

    I don't recall hearing the pump run when the shower head is turned off. If you've ever been inside an RV, the pump only runs when a faucet is opened, signaling a drop in pressure. It's an on-demand style which I think is the same way this works.

    It's probably a hazard to run it indoors for venting reasons and for the case of it getting a little hot. I ran mine inside before but put it next to an open window and put a cookie sheet underneath. My house water heater was out for a few days last year.

    I recall testing this a year ago and I believe you can put the XCW20 shower with the shutoff on the other ones. I think it worked shutting and starting back up with warm water on the smaller one, but the middle one wouldn't put out heated water after shutting it off at the shower head. Hope that helps.

    I know what you mean, it can get a little excessive. One of my favorite times camping was where we took a boat to an island for the weekend and it was totally rustic. One issue with camping in Michigan is the chance of getting swimmers itch from inland lakes. That's where this shower is a nice thing to have if you can get some well water to use and rinse off from the lake.

    I'll bet $100 that if you return the shower water wasted to the ground back into the bucket you would have more hot water sooner. So better efficient usage and less fuel used less water used for a quick shower.

    And they work poorly. Yeah hot water when u pre heat the water sending it right back in the bucket. Not having cord that shuts off is ridiculous and u can’t buy just the hose. It’s really disappointing as well as it intermittently shuts off pilot. Sometimes doesn’t charge well. I have the xb18. Junk imo. Barely works. When it does it needs to be full heat to get hot water or it’s just so so lukewarm heat
