U asked y its called bombay sagu. I saw in one video of krishna udupa he was telling b4 people from south kanara went to bombay nd were preparing this sagu in hotels. After some years they retd. To karnataka nd started cooking same sagu here. As they retd from bombay nd prepared this sagu irs called as bombay sagu. He was telling instead of adding chana dal flour its better to soak chana dal nd grind nd add.

In Bombay they don't use coconut masala they just add gram flour so they call as Bombay sagu n they use for poori also same aloo bhaji they call it as
