I somehow beaten the 5000ft game without losing any lives and playing on HARD.

No idea about the Windows port but the Dreamcast version supports VGA and runs at 480p 60 FPS. FUN game!

Interesting game. Didn't know it. I see in wonder swan they actually show you Mr Driller real name. 6:40 Susumu.

Yea I've been playing it lately it and the PS1 version plays the best, where as the Dreamcast looks the best outta the group, but it don't have the GameCube or the GBA version which both look and play great

The Game Boy Color port of this game looks great, especially for being on 8-bit hardware. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised since Namco always seemed to be good at porting games to Nintendo's humble handheld. If Bandai Namco were to make a compilation of 8-bit Game Boy ports similar to their Namco Museum Archives collections of Famicom ports, I'd buy it.

Addictive game. I play the PS1 port the most.

Masterpiece and one of my all-time favs, thanks for making this comparison! 😁I grew up on the Windows version which I still feel is the definitive one, as it doesn't have *PS/DC versions' audio issues* : 1. *Arcade mode's Stage music in PS/DC are actually in the wrong places* , so they don't match up with the historic/prehistoric/undergrounder backgrounds. e.g. the track that plays in 4:05 / 5:43 (0-1000ft of the 5000ft Arcade mode) is the original version of _Mr. Driller's Theme_ , which is supposed to be for the easier 2500ft Arcade mode's 1st track. The Windows version correctly uses the _"Ardenten Ver." remix_ track for 0-1000ft of the 5000ft Arcade mode. It gets really jarring as you go further down! Another example is the PS/DC mode using _Sweet Laboratory_ for the 1000-2000ft section of 2500ft mode...when it's supposed to be the medieval-themed track _Georian_ . 😑 2. *PS/DC music is missing instrumentation!* -- for example, the track playing is supposed to have a cool synth piano improv. starting at 4:42 / 6:19, but it's just... _not there_ . 😕Go search up the official Mr. Driller Soundtrack album on KZread, _"Mr. Driller's Theme" (not the remix!), you'll hear the improv. coming in at around the 14-second mark. Yes, the soundtrack version is the same track you hear in the Windows version of Mr. Driller, it's awesome.👌 Anyway appreciate whoever reads my rant, rant over, PS/DC versions are still mostly awesome otherwise and I don't fault anyone who prefers them over the Windows ver., you do you, keep on drilling. 🙂

Mr. Driller Ace came out 11 months after PS1 port.

Mr. Driller both on Arcades and PS1 are still a masterpiece even in 2024.

Snowmuncher (A Neopets Game) is like a Mr. Driller like game.

If you like Mr. Driller you will like Digby Extreme on Steam. It can be bought for cheap and there's also an Android version, but Steam one is better.

Ranking each Version: 7. J2ME, Well, this port is a train-wreak, it has horrible gameplay, Meh Music, and worst of all, it’s doesn’t even run past like 10 FPS. On the good side, it does look aright. Overall, I would strong advise not play this version. 3/10 6. GBC, this port is not too bad, it at least looks playable and looks great, the music is alright. My only complaint is that it’s slightly easier. Overall, not too bad, but not great ether. 6/10 5. WonderSwan Color, this is better than the GBC version, mainly because it’s looks better, it also sounds better, not sure about gameplay, it also keeps the original Play field of the arcade version. Overall, it’s Nice. 7/10 4. Windows (Feel free to disagree with me), It’s the same as the arcade (Although it’s ported from the PlayStation and Dreamcast version), It has some flaws, like a square screen (which is fine on the game boy, but not windows XP), I also feel it wasn’t designed for windows. Still pretty solid despite it having some flaws. 7.8/10 3. Arcade, Not much to say, it’s the original version. Although it doesn’t look as good as some of the ports (Don’t get me wrong, it’s still great looking, but it doesn’t really compare to the higher resolutions of the Dreamcast, PlayStation and Windows). Overall It’s still great and kinda holds up. 8.4/10 2. PlayStation, yeah it’s great. The Music is (IDK if it’s remixed or) is great. It looks even better than the Arcade version (Although that is up for debate), It plays nice. It has a opening Intro which I think the arcade doesn’t have. And it’s very playable. My only real complaint is that the opening intro is not as smooth as the windows nor Dreamcast version are, but overall this port is great. 8.7/10 1. DreamCast, Well, this is probably the best version of the game, it’s great looking (and opening intro looks the best here), It’s looks even better than the PlayStation version, along over stuff. My only complaint is that it was released near the end of the Dreamcast lifespan (1 year before Sega pulled the plug on the Dreamcast). Still it’s great. 9/10. I won’t be doing additional ranking this time because I only do it for earlier games or games with a huge quality line.
