Fun fact for us Canadians, Alyson Court credits Ernie Coombs for inspiring her a lot for getting into children's television and eventually hosting her own show. (The Big Comfy Couch)

They are both wonderful hosts to two wonderful shows. Inspiring Canadians and northern state Americans. Or any American who was able to watch them. Thank you for watching! I hope you have a wonderful day!

I watched this show all the time in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s but I had never seen this episode before. It was great!

Thanks for posting this. These episodes take me back! I remember an episode in particular where Mr Dressup was trying to draw a face on a balloon. Every time he would try to draw the eyebrows, the balloon would pop. I believe that episode was around this time.

Mr. Dressup is quite similar to Mr. Rogers! They actually both worked together in the '60s; Fred Rogers had a local show in Pennsylvania, and the CBC invited him to work on a Canadian version of his show. He was joined by Ernie Coombs (who was actually a fellow American, from the state of Maine), who worked as an assistant puppeteer on the show with Rogers. Rogers went back to the US and started Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, but Coombs decided to stay in Canada, and started his own show called "Butternut Square" (which Casey and Finnegan first appeared in); this show turned into Mr. Dressup. It's likely Rogers and Coombs were big influences on each other. Coombs stayed in Canada the rest of his life and eventually gained Canadian citizenship. Even though he is interred back in Maine, Ernie Coombs still is a Canadian treasure, and really is our version of Mister Rogers.

feels weird crushing on young alyson court as an adult rather than an eight year old.

@TheNicsmom I do not have any collection like that. My uncle mainly recorded the lineups of Fred Penner, Under the Umbrella Tree, and Mr. Dressup on CKWS. A few other things occasionally on that channel, but as far as I know, he never recorded that show. I'm not sure what hour it played. I am sorry but I really hope someone records it and you find it! It is an awesome show! Have a wonderful day! :D.
