Mr. Darcy, dream guy, a little awkward, a little soft spoken, leaves at the first sign of trouble or need to be social, speaks his mind in the most awkward way possible…and yet almost every girl manages to fall for him or looks at him like he is a tall glass of water. Honestly he was a bit more of a dick in the book tho, not too bad that it was unforgivable but more than this movie portrays. And given the proclivities of the aristocracy in the regency era I really doubt he would have been a virgin

Looool. The chance of a 27 yr old aristocrat being a virgin in Regency England is slim fat and NONE
You know the adaption is correct when it shows darcy wanting to throw up or just be dead in every scene he is in

"This is a charming house" Literally the 19th century term equivalent to the 21st century term-'what a nice weather'
This is one of the things I enjoy about the 2005 version as opposed to 1995. I feel like in the 1995 version, he is a little bit cocky and learns to humble himself for Elizabeth (still love him), but in the 2005 version, like this man is just a socially anxious dumbass, and I love him for it.
@meretchen
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is because the 1995 version is faithful to the book. The 2005 version is a good movie, but it is not Pride and Prejudice.
@alyalvarado1667
2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The 1995 version is a masterpiece of an adaption. Not only does it adapt the storyline better, but it really gets the nuance and humor of Jane Austen herself. And Darcy himself, he is a better overall character, who has a character arc, and both he and Elizabeth grow as people and their relationship is perfect because of it. I would argue that the 2005 movie is still Pride and Prejudice, just watered down, but to each their own. Definitely no where as good as the 1995 version, definitely prettier but nowhere near as substantial. Doesn't change the fact that sometimes it's just nice to pine after 2005 himbo Darcy.

I am sure Darcy's thoughts had 3 main currents: - How to say "I love you" to Elizabeth without offending her family - How to come up with a reason visited Elizabeth without a reason - How to get away from people

So that was the big issue, really with them need I to marry and no one really wanting to marry them. As soon as their dad died they'd basically be dirt poor because of their gender.

@@elliewuzzup7689 yeah and with the Darcy coffers losing Georgiana’s 30k pounds, normally the wife would replenish that but Elizabeth enters their marriage with nothing since she doesn’t receive her 1k until AFTER her mothers death. Actually, in the end she costs Mr Darcy close to 3k pounds since he rescues Lydia by paying off Wickhams debts, buys his commission, special license, etc.
My favorite part is that this was supposed to be a very artsy take on the story and the most prevalent part is the tall man with social anxiety

The ORIGINAL enemies to lovers
I love this movie but I also laugh at myself whenever I watch it. I was so seriously into Mr. Darcy-type love interests in my media as a teenager lmao.
My favorite part is that the morning after Elizabeth told him to practice having conversations, he bursts into her house (technically the Collins house). He then proceeds to say nothing and stare while Elizabeth tries really hard to get a conversation going three times. After saying "This is a charming house," he just kind of runs away.
2:00 Darcy just being a pick me, i can't💀💀💀
I'm forever grateful at people who keep editing this movie and I admit that feeling gratitude usually takes some effort for me, not with this! I am GRATEFUL
His frantic fidgeting and the continual blinking paired with the little bows. MANS HAS SUCH BAD SOCIAL ANXIETY SOMEONE HELP HIM PLEASE
Bruh, Mr. Darcy is literally me 90% time 😆 in any social situation
It's so sad we don't get to see his exact developement in the books, it's just like he's a completly different person the next time we meet him after Rosings
Only a true author could invent someone that would relatable to only their own generation, but to all the ones after.
Jane Austen was so ahead of her time perfectly showing how socially awkward people are, especially since back then they probably didn’t even know what anxiety really was. I’ve always said that women are good at writing male characters but men can only write either weak or annoying female characters.
Darcy is literature's most awkward man ever but WE LOVE HIM. He's our socially awkward bby. Also, Darcy literally own this emoji 🧍♂️. Change my minf

this version of pride and prejudice is literally everything to me.
I think he wasn't awkward at all times. The embarrassment occurred mostly in front of her, specially before exposing his feelings. Afterwards, he became a bit more relaxed.
DARCY BEING SUCH A MOOD I CANNOT- 💀
I can feel the embarrassment through the screen
I love this take of Darcy not being an intentional douche but so socially inept it's painful to watch 😂
Looking back to this movie following the actor's success is insane. You got Tom Wambsgans, the CEO of Waystar Royco as Mr Darcy. And then you got Elizabeth Swann, Amy Dunne, Daisy Buchanan, Johanna Mason and Elon Musk's ex wife as the Bennet sisters. Then also President Coriolanus Snow as the father of the Bennet sister (i mean my god, Johanna was Snow's daughter in this movie). This movie's casting is absolutely perfection!
Never ever stop doing this kind of content with memes. So funny 💀💀💀
This movie is so good like 😩
