@@oksanabear not really slowing down, but literally cutting the “feel” in half. The song is the same speed, but the drums make it feel slowed down. Usually you do this by hitting the snare drum on the 3rd beat instead of the 2nd and 4th beat. Now your only hitting it once per measure instead of twice, giving the illusion that the song has been cut into half the speed. Sorry long expo I too am a drummer 😂

For all the shit Drummers get, they are what defines and holds the band together. Keep time for everyone, usually have the least notoriety / recognition, and more often than not the most chill of the group. Which is why drummers get flak, because a BAD drummer really ruins the entire band, but the good ones are usually ignored as just a support role.

@@HauntingSpectre And when they get replaced by a keyboardist with a drum machine because they don't "take an hour" to set up, the band usually dies shortly after because not only are we what defines and holds the band together, they murder it by removing the "heart beat"...as I sadly experienced back in 2002

I was in a local Contemporary Christian band "Heaven's Rain" for 3 years and just a few weeks after I got taken out by a second keyboardist they added because he said he can program the drums ...the band broke up. I know the bassist was fighting for me and maybe that's why?

This has always been a sad song. The original never felt like it though because of the high energy fast tempo. This hits hard. In fact, it slaps.

@@catherinearredondo2092 I found it especially even more sad when you think about how nothing he describes in the song is actually happening in the "storyline" of the song, like he says it's "all in his head" so the fact that he's doing it to himself but the tempo tries to play it off as an upbeat song makes it even sadder

The mastering on this track was absolutely phenomenal! The arraignment gave me some serious Blink-182 vibes. Especially with the little drum flairs thrown in to make up for the song being in half time. Very reminiscent of Travis Barker

This is actually dope. Not only is it half time but you’ve kind of re invented it. Nice style. Sounds good.

This could easily be “if Moose Blood wrote Mr.Brightside” and it rips so hard 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Halftime drums are underrated. They are so much more fun to play, leave so many more windows for creativity, and can accent parts of the song nicely. I love this sort of exploration.
