If one could drink sounds through a straw, granular would be the type of synthesis needed to reproduce what that might sound like.

Awesome tutorial! You are always dropping gems. So just to clarify regarding the playback speed for pad sounds you were talking about earlier, it depends on the spray speed? I know samples play slower in lower octaves so that's in play as well but I wanted to clarify is that what Wikipedia meant by the playback speed. Also, my biggest issue with granular synthesis is I have put different sounds trying to make innovative leads or pads that are melodic in tone, and they all end up sounding like this cloud sound you were talking about earlier. Is that normal because I'm trying to get new sounds out of them. They end up sounding like the same cloud sound even though they are different samples. Other than that, granular for understanding what it is doing to the audio is fine, but I just don't get why with different samples, I can't get different tones for making new lead or pad sounds. Once again I end up with that cloud sound in the end result so any tips from your constant use of granular to fix this issue would be helpful

Granular synthesis as a definition is not sampling based. Basic granular synthesis uses sine waves. It can use samples as it's input, instead of sine waves. They also don't need to be offset randomly. Granular synthesis is just sound particles. Micro sounds which when played back together sound as one. The way granular synthesis is typically used is 99% of the time, just the "cloud" form of it. But there's so much unexplored territory within it.
