Here i go over the mpc one and mpc live 2 keygroups and how to set up keygroups with your mpc tutorial. I mainly use key groups when i want to sample a record into the mpc and use a small bass hit as my very own melodic instrument. I would challenge you to incorporate some sample keygroups on the mpc on top of your lofi sample based boombap production on the mpc.

Great video ! And the Mavis is a very good choice for a nice bass. Also, man you are going to LOVE the autosampler in there. It wil actually automatically sample whatever external synth you have and create a keygroup with the sampled notes. Takes a couple of minutes and then you can focus on sound design !

Question! Ive installed the the MPC Software to my win PC. Using a 3rd party vst instrument, I can not figure out how to set the pads to not play chords so I can use my Native Battery sample kits. I don't know if you know what Battery is basically its a vst that has 16 pads and you apply what every instrument you want to each pads. And the MPC keeps playing chords/multiple pads when I hit just one pad. For example it will pad 1-3-5 at the same time. Any help would be appreciated. I can find any info on this. Probably because I have no clue how to ask this question in short terms

Hi Malo. Thanks for this video. I'd better understand the difference between Keygroup and use 16level. I've got a question. Once you have a keygroup, can you use the note section to define scale, or chord or key (Gmin for example ;^) with the program of your keygroup ? Thanks again for all your tips and explanations about MPC. Take Care.

Can someone help me out? I know how to create a keygroup from any 1 sample. I also know how to autosample via midi & audio cables. What if I have just TWO different WAV files for an external synth...the C2 note on one and C3 note on the other? I thought maybe create a keygroup from the C2 sample and then add C3 as layer 2 in Program Edit but that doesn't work because I don't want C2 and C3 to play at the same time. When you create a keygroup from 1 sample, MPC pitches it up and down to make a keygroup. I want my C2 WAV to cover the C2 - C3 octave and then the C3 WAV to cover the C3 - C4 octave. I don't need below C2 or above C4. So what do I do? How do I start? I can't find 1 YT video that shows this but it has to be possible! What is the correct way to take 2 different notes (1 wav file each) to create a good sounding keygroup? I know I can just create a keygroup from 1 of the notes but I have to believe that adding the 2nd note (or more) will give a better sound. If anyone can walk me through it step by step I'd really appreciate it!

  • @wul01

Why assign the sample to a drum program then convert it to a keygroup? You could have just created a keygroup and assigned the sample to it.. doing it your way, You now have 2 programs . The convert to keygroup function is more for existing drum programs.
