I’l never forget the first time I heard this. I was driving down the Philadelphia expressway. I could not imagine anything more beautiful. Mozart sounds deceptively easy but he demands a lot of his musicians. Only the best players can play Mozart.

Mozart wrote this concerto during his Paris journey, which was the most biographically important part of his life. It was his first time travelling without his controlling father. It introduced him to the best orchestra in Europe. He really fell in love for the first time on this trip, and experienced major heartbreak. He failed to land a good job anywhere, and was underpaid for the work he did. And while in Paris his mother died, causing a family crisis. He remained spirited through all of that. The letters he sent during his Paris journey are full of fart-jokes and other bathroom humor -- more so than was usual, even for Mozart. Somehow, amid all the bustle, heartache, trauma, fart-jokes, hard work and disappointment he managed to write this beautiful and poised concerto. He never received full pay for it.

A magical experience and I have loved this piece of music ever since.

Viva Mozart. Larga vida a su obra.❤️

I think Tchaikovsky called Mozart the Christ of Music. And I think Dvorak said Mozart is Sunshine.

Each piece in classical music is often a musical story, expressing emotions and meanings in a powerful manner. Every note and musical section contributes to telling a meaningful and emotional narrative.

I strongly recommend you to listen to a late Taiwanese singer, Tom Chang. All the songs he created tell beautiful and meaningful narratives💯 Any enquiries? You can ask me😊

Still love to play this. Great interplay between flute & harpist. Also, very well conducted... Julia & Guy are in top form. One of my favorite live performances to hear (compared to and including other music genres - I'm typically a rock & roll listener...).

Greetings to all from Montréal.
