Mowing Thick, tall grass on the impossible Site - This Is oddly satisfying.Steep slope with washouts

Ойын-сауық

Lawn mowing the toughest site I've seen-broke the Ventrac. It wasn't cut in 3 years. Tall, thick, wet grass, stumps, washouts & more. It was oddly satisfying to watch this come down.

Which reminds me of two seasons ago I accidentally mulched up three full nests (about 6 baby rabbits total) they all decided to make a run for it as soon as my mower was over the nest only way I knew I did it was the hair and blood discharging. I felt awful but I somehow still laughed out of shock.

Squirrels? Really? When have you ever had to escort a squirrel out of harms way? A baby rabbit... maybe. Most mammals will run from a mower, even most rodents. Frogs try to hide, like snakes, they stay perfectly still, then try to jump away last second into the blade. I want someone to invent a device you can put on your lawn as a deterrent to all living things in the grass. You would set it 15 mins ahead of time, have it on a schedule or make it remote activated. Then when you arrive to start cutting all the animals have already dispersed. Would be perfect for the entire agriculture business really. It's actually the only thing I hate about my job, taking the life of innocent animals. It's the only aversion I have in all of landscaping. If I couldn't foresee taking the time to move animals out the way, I take the time to bury them responsibly. I've even personally nursed some back to full health! Being in our position you're really forced to weigh efficiency against simple decency. In my opinion and personal reflection, I've found that it's more worth it to spend the time.

Well those seem like cool machines, why not use a smaller tracked skidloader with a bush hog? That way those trees are near the issue.

Investment for your idea = $100k+. Ventrac = $25k and many uses. They are a great machine!

This looks like one of the jobs I've mowed that measured an average of about 27 degree slope, plus large rocks, washouts, unseen fall-offs and unpredictable holes buried among thick brush and nasty sticker-bushes that were 4-7 feet high. It was my most challenging job, even with the Ventrac. Had to mow it 5 times over to produce acceptable results, so I suggested to the customer that it should be mowed more often. After seeing the results, the customer asked if I thought he could just mow it himself with a standard riding mower.

I also use my 1972 John Deere 1020 with my 6 foot Bush Hog and 102" finishing mower. If it gets slick I grab the Ole Zetor 5245 and let er eat as we say down in Chucktown South Cakilak.

Glenn Wyant well, if you can’t afford a ventrac or specialized equipment, a small stout tractor with fluid tires (for extra stability) would work. 4-wheel drive would be a good idea to look for. And if the tires can be moved out, I’d recommend to do so. If the areas are really steep, going up and down rather than across is good

Once took a leaf blower to a green (on golf course) with thousands of young frogs. Just barely hopping out of the adjacent pond. What a terrible thing to think some might just cut over them with the reel.

That ventrac is sweet. Don't like tha belt drive vs pto though. Tractor and bushog would knock it out quickly. Then push up stumps an grade w bobcat or mini-ex. But tjst thing worked
