Moving to Valencia - with relocations expert Laurence Lemoine, Valencia Expat Services

Moving to Valencia, Spain?
Experienced relocation expert Laurence Lemoine has a lot to say.
The founder of Valencia Expat Services told us why Spain's third-largest city is becoming so popular with expats from around the world.
She said in particular people are moving to Valencia for the same reasons that makes Spain the tourist capital of the world - good food, good weather and great beaches.
But Valencia is the home of paella, with winter temperatures sometimes hitting 20 C, and long, wide sand beaches you don't get in all parts of the Spanish coast.
Laurence Lemoine says Valencia also has much lower crime rates than other major cities, and her she feels safe for her daughter to be out unlike in Paris of her native France.

We (me and my wife) watched this video about a year ago and we decided to use Laurence services to move from France to Spain/Valencia. Within 2 weeks we got all the necessary papers and signed the flat contract thanks to her and Catherine's help. I can only imagine how many bureaucracy horrors we avoided. Nothing better than starting a new journey by fighting bureaucracy, right? ;) We are really grateful to Laurence and Catherine, and we recommend VES wholeheartedly :) Thank you for making this interview because otherwise, we could miss VES.

I moved to Madrid from California 2 years ago. Lately, I have been considering a move to Valencia because my family is considering moving there. However, I chose Madrid over Barcelona originally because Barcelona is too humid for me and I can't breathe there with my asthma. I keep hearing Valencia has good weather, but then I hear it's very humid. Which is it? Is the humidity really that much less than Barcelona? Barcelona is unbearable with it's humidity.

Update: just checked the data for you on weather-and-climate.com. Humidity in % is below Barcelona and pretty constant. Not much up-and-down over the year. Madrid has more humidity in the winter.

I also have asthma and really can't tolerate humidity (which makes the fact that I live in Florida now pretty insane). Like you I've been looking for drier places. From my research, Almeria seems like a promising spot. It's relatively close to Valencia also. Might want to check it out.

Hi Katherine! I think when people say 'good weather in Valencia' it's because the winter can be super mild, like up to 20 C on a January day. To be honest, locals do complain of the humidity in summer - they call it 'bochorno'. There's quite a lot of water around Valencia. I guess at least there's a beach! Madrid will likely be more bearable in summer for you, how is it for your asthma there?

@@MumAbroadLife - Madrid can be pretty humid too so some days are difficult, but it's mostly fine here. I'm armed with three inhalers to get through the humid days here. I'm moving to Valencia next week, so hopefully I'll be able to leave the apartment sometimes!

Young students when finish their classes have the same level of spanish than other regions without valenciano or catalán, catalan /valenciano is very easy to learn because is similar to spanish and then is good to learn other romanic languages like portugues italian or french however the spanish governments don't like other language in Spain, only spanish and they would like to ban, because the language is the root of our identity, AND CATALAN,VALENCIANO,BALEAR IS THE LANGUAGE OF THIS TERRITORY,NOT SPANISH.
