You're not going to be walking with ice cream in those summers LOL. I have a home in Los Angeles & a home in Edmond, OK. Even here in LA where everything is very much geared toward pedestrians & we are pushed to take public transit...I rarely see someone on a bike & the buses are empty. Businesses in my immediate area of West Adams & downtown Culver City STRUGGLE because parking is so bad. They put all the extra space into bike lanes that are rarely used. There's nowhere to park!!!!!!! Of course it is beautiful weather here in SoCal year round so we park in a structure and walk a quarter mile to shops & restaurants. How is that going to go down in OKC? It gets cold & icy or hot as hell. It's all kumbaya & crayon colored homes until that sun hits or those icy days hit. I love how Wheeler planners say that your car is just a visitor & only the bikes are truly welcome...welp that means you really shouldn't expect many actual visitors LOL. The utopian communist leftist freaks have finally invaded my beautiful sanctuary of Oklahoma. Hopefully I will be dead before you destroy it fully. Meanwhile I'll be enjoying my stunning home in Edmond in the Hidden Prairie edition with long stretches of woods, 3 car garage, and plenty of space to park. This wheeler district looks like a dystopian episode of "Black Mirror".

Each person, has their own version of sanctuary for sure. You are absolutely right about the weather. 6 months of the year its pretty much indoors only. Being able to lock up a home and leave for months at a time without much maintenance or concerns is a big selling point of communities like this. As far as everyone biking around, well those bikers go to city council and vote. City council members get voted in by less than 2,000 total votes. So speaking out about passionate polarizing topics like "more sidewalks" and "food for the homeless" gets people that want change out to vote. People that dont want change often miss out on voting in city council elections. thats just my little observations - Landon

Like, omg no. This is everything we are trying to get away from in Portland, OR. It's so trendy, until it's not. I feel like this idea is fake. To be fair, it's just not what my family is looking for. It's a little too Stepford Wives for me.
