Destiny & Mitch yes! I love Austin too! I have family there too and almost considered moving there, but a lot of family is moving out because of the expenses and they are now moving to New Braunfels, TX (south of Austin and closer to San Antonio) because the living expenses are great there! 😃 Austin is great for weekend trips during the summer because it’s only 2 hours away from Houston with lots to do during the summer! 😍

If you don't like hot & humid weather, don't go to Texas. They don't have 4 seasons so don't expect fall colors and a cool down in September. They actually only have 3 seasons - warm, hot and DAMN, IT"S FR!GGIN' HOT!!!

It depends where in Texas you are talking about. I live in northeast Texas, and we have all 4 seasons. Many many trees, everything is so green for the spring and summer, and all the fall colors during autumn. We even get snow in the winter sometimes! You are right about it being hot in the summer though, humid and MOSQUITOES!!!

But seriously, it does me good to hear people from outa state move here and talk about it and you can see in their faces how much they love it, there is nothing better than that. To me, there is nothing closer to heaven, than Texas. Anyways, happy y'all are here. I too live in the DFW METROPLEX area. Btw...native I DO DRIVE FAST! Love the channel ❤

It's literally so weird hearing people say that Austin is expensive, but I think that's due to the fact that I've lived here all of my life (born and raised), lol. Fun fact: My coworker's mother bought her house near downtown Austin back in the 70's for less than 20K and sold it for over half a mil a year ago. It's mind-blowing!

For those moving to Texas the most important thing to know I’d move 401k to an IRA. Then when you get here you can withdraw it State Tax free. Moved from CA in 07 and did this to save the OUTRAGEOUS state tax of withdrawing there.

Dr. Pepper & Big Red are Texas sodas! Thanks for doing videos on our great state! I'm a native of Ft. Worth plan on moving to Raleigh, NC in 3-5 yrs. It was cool to hear your viewpoints on our state. By the way I somehow ran across y'all 1st video on TX, I was curious what you would say. Glad to know I'm not the only one watching who already live here and is from here. Lastly, I will say all the headquarters helped in the boom to our cities growth for out of towners. Look at the statistics and you will see Ft. Worth doubled in population since the early 2000's.

I’m from El Paso! Wait to come when all the restrictions are lifted so you can experience the culture 😭 a lot of western/Cowboy/Spanish culture here. A lot of people cross the border into Mexico and experience both cultures. It’s awesome! Good food and nice people, but you can’t experience it when places aren’t open 🥺 very low cost of living here, even the food can be cheap if you find “hole in the wall places” authentic food! $2 tacos and a nice beer on the side lol! & yes we’re one of THEE safest cities here. No crime! our city comes together as one and there’s no hate crime that ever happens here. And it’s diverse here too. A lot of people are moving here as well.

People that have never been to Texas, just can't comprehend the expanse of the state. To drive across the state, on a typical day from furthest point east to west , literally takes about 12 hours. And that's if you don't hit traffic, don't stop, except to fill up, and stay on the highway at 70-75 mph. North to South is a bit shorter, but not by much. Probably around 10 or so hours, under the same conditions. (although there are no traffic free conditions on parts of the main North South highway) And when you hear people talk about the "metroplex', it isn't just Dallas and Fort Worth. It's gigantic, and includes many, many, other cities.

Austin doesn't have a lot of room to expand, it is a small area in terms of city limits. A lot of people want to have that Austin address, and since there are limited homes and apartments that can be squeezed in, the rents and home values are higher. That coupled with the fact that UT Austin and the government buildings take up a lot space, lots to compete with!

I've had enough of that HEAT being born and raised in South Florida, so that's why I live up here near Chicago now, I love the seasonal change that you two have lived for years in Minneapolis. I have visited several times but never considered living in California, and NYC is far TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get, just like San Francisco. During the day, NYC is doable, but at night with all the trash out along the sidewalks, those Rats are INSANE, and are not scared of people at all. 😅😅

Guys, ya don't love "big" cities, more the small town vibe? So west of Austin, northwest of San Antonio lie dozens of small to medium sized towns in the heart of the Texas hill country, Rolling hills, lush grasses and rivers galore. But an hour away San Antonio, for the restaurants and shopping. And of course the river walk. Kerrville, Bandera, Fredericksburg, Llano, the places are many and GREAT. Too much further west and you get into the transitional zone, separating the wetter east from the dryer west. But Lost Maples State Park, the towns of Utopia and Leaky are jewels deserving of consideration. Spring fed rivers always at very chilly temps REGARDLESS the ambient temperature, and so clear the bottom looks inches away, when in fact it may be 30 feet. One of your trips to San Antonio take a drive north and west. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I moved to Northern Virginia in 1988 and then moved back to Paris Tx in 2009. People in Virginia would ask me how come I was so comfortable driving the beltway and not be scared I told them if you can drive in Dallas Tx you can drive anywhere. I learned to drive on I-30 especially thru the canyon and onto I-35E where if you don’t drive fast they will run over you.

We've seen cockroaches and some spiders in our apartment. We spray very often though & haven't seen a cockroach in our home in months. Lol, don't let it hold you back too much! There are many other pros that make dealing with the bugs worth it.

@@destinyandmitch Tip: There's a apparatus you can purchase on Amazon that's called Pest Reject that you plug in the wall that get rid of all kinds of insects, spiders, roaches, bugs etc. Believe me, it works. Give it about a month to see results. Pest reject releases a sound (humans can't hear) that drives the insects crazy. Check it out.

I'm from/live in Austin and I've driven cross-country. There is NOTHING like driving 65 frustrating mph, then 70, then crossing the state line into Texas and hitting 75 mph. We do drive fast. I admit it and I'm glad. 🤣🤣🤣 I'm a native Austinite and the cost of living is atrocious. We had a tech boom last decade. It's also a college town and many students remain and work here. People moving here consistently also makes housing premium. Unfortunately, capitalism is all about demand. Prices are driven up in a market like this. There is always talk about affordable housing, but there's never much accomplished. Homelessness is a major problem. All that said, I really do love it here. It was so different when I was a child, but it's always been weird. It's also the live music capital of the world (SXSW) and more and more movies are made here. That might have to do with the desire to live here, as well. It's "Bowmont" (like the french pronunciation of "Beau"). San Antonio is my favorite city to visit here in Texas.

Doesnt the 7 dollar an hour minimum wage keep all the saleries down? If not then they are somehow proving a lot of economic theory wrong. I have heard one of the reasons big companies relocate to TX is due to paying employees less. How can anyone work for 7 bucks an hour? Seems almost immoral to pay people so little when you see median US pay and housing costs.
