    Welcome to Sweden! Some of the things Jenny says is true ..especially about learning the Swedish language as fast as possible to get faster into the communities and to be able to earn more money as well :-) . A good way is to start to chat with people in the Supermarket in a friendly manor . For example and asking about food and things there. Because when you get a Swede to feel secure and comfortable with you...they will often open up alot and they will often talk to you about everything and be to a big help . But you have to be the better man/woman and start the conversation

    Taxes give us so much, you don't get 2 years of parental leave, five weeks holiday, almost completely free healthcare, pre-school and completely free school and university and much much more for free. It is our taxes that pay for it. That they are progressive taxes, I think it is in most countries in Western countries. I partially agree with the language, Swedes usually understand and speak English well, but not everyone does and for many jobs the language is a requirement. Then it becomes easier to integrate when you know the language. I would also say that you do better with just English in the bigger cities. When it comes to the apartment situation, I completely agree, it is also a hell of a scourge for us Swedes. So if you're not rich and can buy an apartment, it's tough.

  • @tangfors

    @tangfors

    @geranienbaum Do you mean holidays, or vacations? Holidays are most days off, then you don't get paid, but if you work, you normally get extra pay in Sweden. Vacations, on the other hand, are paid by your employer, if you are permanently employed, you have at least 5 weeks a year.

  • @tangfors

    @tangfors

    5 ай бұрын

    @geranienbaum When I think about it, we also get paid on holidays. You get paid monthly, but it doesn't matter if, for example, a month contains two public holidays or not. You get paid the same, but for me it works a little differently as I work in healthcare, so I also work those days. You can also have a form of employment where you work as needed, then you only get paid hour by hour. However, there are rules around this, so you cannot work on such a form of employment for any length of time before the employer has to hire you on a monthly basis.

    I´m sorry but watching this make me feel that you didn´t know what it´s like to move to a new country. If you´re doing that you are going to have to be prepared to handle that things are not the same as in your home country. In most cases- yes- you are going to have to learn the local language if you want a job. If I came to your country I probably also had to do that. Yes it´s a problem with not enough appartments to rent especially if you don´t have much money. But that´s how it´s like today in most cities in Europe. It´s mainly because it´s popular to move to Sweden. Yes the taxes are high. But I also think that we are getting a lot from it. So we are paying taxes instead of having to pay things ourselves.

    This comment is spot on. Jenny comes from an English speaking African country where most of the media about the "First World" is Anglo-Centric. There are actually plenty of resources for learning Swedish like Duolingo and other apps that can take you to CEFR A2 with a year of dilligent use. That's enough to ask directions, shop etc. Also she is making a huge issue about Tax but is clearly not aware of the huge social benefits this affords her family like Education, Medical Care, Unemployment Benefit, Parental Leave etc.

    I recommend you to moving to an other country where you can feel better, where everybody speaks a language that you understand, where accommodation is really cheap and you don't want to wait. Where integration is smooth, tax system is low and cost of living is affordable, and off-course where the sun always shine. Because you are listing those parameters that is a basic need for living. Food, heat, house, cost, weather and understand other people around you. Do you recommend a country?
