    When I was little it was raining hard and I was walking downtown with my family, I fell and scraped myself up. I stood up and 5 guys that were working on construction cheered me on and told me "that's the way its done young man, keep going!" That really made my day and is probably why I fell in love with it.

    I am going to say a good indication of a place that isn't safe to be in, is if you seen rundown buildings (like in some of the outskirts of Downdown) or see places with bars that protect windows, those kinds of places are indications that you don't want to be there at night at least. I am ashamed to say that I do have a fear of being out at night though because it got drilled into me at a young age to not stay out late and sadly you do hear about bad things on the news of things happening. I remember being terrified at first when I moved into my college dorms at UIW when it came to be out at night, even on campus, but eventually I did relax and feel better about walking to my dorms on my own at some point from the main campus. UIW's main campus is divided into 2 areas, one on the hill where you have Upperclassmen dorms (which includes the Roseburg Skyroom) and the International Center) and then the rest of the campus that's next to the hill. I will say that SA is prone to flooding though. We have a LOT of low water crossing areas, and the areas that tend to flood the most area Osmos Basin and some of the areas around downtown. There's a saying here that people use a lot- "Turn Around, Don't Drown". To this day I still shake my head when people ignore those low water crossings and few even go around baracades. @9:59- Another moral, never walk barefoot (or even wear flipflops) onto a yard. It's not the heat, it's the ants! Yeah I learned that the hard way too. You also need to be mindful of mosquitos. Easiest way to prevent them is to make sure there's no low standing water in your area. That's where they love to breed.

  • @bigglou

    @bigglou

    3 жыл бұрын

    I agree 100% about the flooding. All it takes is 30 minutes of hard rain and most of the roads are flooded due to crappy drainage systems. Whenever it does rain like that, I have to take an alternate exit from the neighborhood because the main exit is flooded. Not to mention the past couple of years we've gotten hail from pea size to golf ball depending on location.

    @@irshadrembert7910 Atlanta or SA is all new? I'm currently in Portland and seriously considering SA if stuff goes poorly soon. I personally prefer "old" architecture. The new stuff to me is just....idk, has no soul I guess. It's kinda like if you go into a themed restaurant vs the real thing they're trying to theme.

    Eric Arden I meant Everything In SA is new. Atlanta and Portland are both very unique and rustic cities, but SA can seem kinda “plastic” sometimes. It seems like everything here was built in this decade.

    Not sure if ur interested but you should definitely do a interview or talk to someone born and raise that knows the city, from suburbs to the not so well off side of town. Me myself I love Sa n would never live anywhere else. I know this city like the back of my hand and have seen it it all here and I accept and love this city for what it is and what it’s is growing to be. Awesome to hear people appreciate San Antonio that are from outside the city or state or even country. Thank you for your videos.

    Your videos are very informative. I have lived here almost 3 years and it's just not my vibe. I know many ppl. love SA though. I really suggest people do their research and spend time in the city before moving. For me, I need to be closer to the beach, need more walkable areas, and need more diverse food (as someone who has lived in both South FL and Southern CA, I'm used to having more options).

    I agree with you… 2 1/2 years here from NY and I feel like Texas is behind on a lot of stuff. Very close minded people because a lot of them never been outside of Texas and to them their Spanish people have to look a certain way. My daughter is 💯 Puerto Rican and she had to finally tell friends and peers because they were calling her racial names all because she has darker skin color and long, thick, curly hair. Afterwards they followed up by saying “puerto ricans are Mexicans”…so my next issue is I don’t agree with the history lessons here and who pledges to the their own state flag? My kids were like 😮nope they felt uncomfortable because United we all are and there’s 5o other states besides TX.

    My fiancé and I are both deaf and moving to San Antonio in June. We reserved an Airbnb for a month (private room/private bathroom). While I look for work and we look for an apartment. Our original plan was to move to Florida we had 4 cities in mine and ended up deciding on Jacksonville. But after calling around to multiple apartments no one would accept us with me already having a job. But no one would hire me living out of state even if I explained my move to the area in a cover letter. So that’s when we decided to move to San Antonio because of cheaper apartments and better jobs I was looking for.

    My family and I live out in the Far West Side of SA and really love it! Our team has also helped a lot of folks that ended up settling in Helotes and the Far North Side in neighborhoos like Stone Oak. Those are some of the most popular areas in the city. Below are a few videos I did for those communities😃 Pros & Cons of Living FW San Antonio kzread.info/dash/bejne/nmeok7qPqMergKg.html Top 5 FW Neighborhoods kzread.info/dash/bejne/a36OsKSmYsqXfag.html Living in Stone Oak kzread.info/dash/bejne/eqSLq8tsf6S7odo.html Living in Helotes kzread.info/dash/bejne/m3WL17StotPAdrg.html

    @@justinwinfree7843 SA is not diverse. It's also not very diverse within the Hispanic community as Latin America has many countries and mostly only 1 Latin American country is represented in SA.
