OMG this was SPOT ON how my parents dropped me off at college. My dad literally couldn't try leaving fast enough after arriving in the parking lot and my mom had to get him to help move my stuff into the dorm. Then the second everything was in there I went to go check the main office to register in and midway through talking to the lady I get a call from my parents saying they were ALREADY DRIVING AWAY AND GOODBYE!

Oh Charlie you just reminded me of my family's most infamous story. I WILL NOT tell you where they lived, but I will tell you that my grampa and my mom both went "over the border" into Wisconsin to drink. Mom was underage at the time, Grampa was suuuuper not supposed to be out drinking with 4 other kids at home. They saw each other across the bar. Neither one ever said a word about it until I was an adult, so 20+ years later.

My Dad moved me back and forth from college more times than I can count. Then he moved me to my first place. By the time I met my husband and he asked my dad if he could marry me my Dad said, “You want her? She’s yours! Alternatively, you’re moving into a giant dorm, not at ground floor level, and the cart they give you can’t go up or down stairs so you get in a giant line to use one of the 2 elevators they have. The mom trying to set her up with the frat boy next door and the dad just trying to get out of there is too relatable. And the dad trying to act all detached and then breaking down on the drive home my mom told me that after dropping me off at my freshman dorm, my dad literally had a teary-eyed conversation with her about how I was all grown up and I was just like "... wut"
