I have not had a TV in 14 years. I spent that time exercising and walking. It's so refreshing to get out and walk and get the exercise instead of filling your mind with rubbish from the TV. Of course a lot of my walking was done after sundown but it was still much better than not getting any exercise at all.

You two are definitely not crazy. In fact I think your outlook or should I say, philosophy of life makes perfect sense. I hope your children have inherited your wisdom. I am 83 and after 55 years of happy marriage have just lost my husband. We were lucky, we worked together in a job we loved and shared the same philosophy of life. We didn't have much stuff but have children and grandchildren who love us. We traveled as much as we could and enjoyed being together. I hope you will go on living, really living I mean, the way you describe. Good luck and best of wishes for your future.

@@mavisgetsabout interesting vlog, so I subscribed but … nothing 🤷♀️ Get filming your adventures for all the ones living vicariously through you!! I’m wondering how chilly you find it in winter having all that glass? Brrrrr 🥶 Ya hubster mentioned how he would have filled them in and cherry picked where the windows went, do you plan to retrospectively do that? It’d make good content?? Just a thought. 🎥
Well done to you both. I did the same 3 years ago and its changed my life for the better 10 times over. Sold up, converted a van, quit work and now live cheap and happy.

@djpamelamc I don't stay in one place, I park at reservoirs or quiet places out of the way, I live close to the hills so there are places so I can rotate. I feel I go fairly unnoticed, I have a long wheel base van that I converted that has everything you'd need- I go gym for showers although I did build a shower that's now a storage/wardrobe space. Deisel heater for warmth and I upgraded to lithium batteries so I now never run out of power, van charges when I drive or start the engine and I put solar on top so summer it tops up if I go away and park up for days.

I a lived in England before life became so expensive and loved it. I don't think I could afford to live there now. I love your home-on-wheels. It is beautifully done and befitting your great personalities. At 76 now, I decided two years to give up my 2500 square foot home in Virginia, bought a late model cargo van and did the no build build myself...just moved all of my camping and backpacking gear into it. I absolutely love my nomadic lifestyle having traveled across our nation. After over 30,000 miles I've explored almost the entire West Coast states of Washington, Oregon and California. After my housesitting commitment (free rent), I plan to explore the entire Southwest corner of the U.S. and parts of Mexico. I will base in New Mexico where for a one year fee of $225 I can live in any one of 30+ state parks for 14 days at one , move onto the next. My daughter lives in a tiny studio in San Diego (beautiful though and a beautiful location) for almost $1300 a month! Ridiculously expensive!

I think the lockdown period gave a lot of people time to reflect on their lives past, present and future and for some an opportunity to change their lives for the better. Lovely couple and a lovely home, Bravo.
This couple have got life sorted, great story & i wish them a the very very best. They're so righ about the people you meet while on your travels, they're the best kind of people & are happier people. You instantly click with them because you're of the same mindset, doing the same thing & been through the same process to get you there.
Love the video, every motorhome owners dream ! Or is it? My wife and I have had three motorhomes over thirty years and really loved the life. At 73 we sold our last one after having it for ten years from new. What would be our options now if we had sold our home ? We have been mortgage free for 27 years and although I always earned a good living we couldn’t possibly have a reasonable life now on todays cost of renting . I would advise anybody who is thinking of going full timing to rent their homes instead of selling them unless of course they can still somehow make a good living to keep up with the stupid cost of buying a home. I don’t want to sound negative but eventually everybody gets old and now my wife and I are 77 we look back on our motor-homing days wistfully . Best wishes to you both for all your future adventures. Chris

I for one think they have a good life style ..for Them. But for me i do like our Paid off Land and House. we have 2 camp trailers. a 24' and a 17'. the 17' isnt the inside living quarters. but love that camp trailer. Love the other one too. we revamped it when we bought it very well worn out.. but i think it could be revamped again. Again i love their story, and it got me to thinking about Our story. even retired we are in a rut.

I see your point but the problem with owning in old age is that there is no way to spend or live off the capital tied up in the house. I'm now 65. I sold my flat 15 years ago and invested the money in simple, do nothing, well diversified ETF funds. The income from the invested funds (without touching the capital) easily covers the rent yet also leaves me the option of withdrawing and spending some, or all, of the capital as and when I want. I also have the freedom to move to more suitable accommodation or a different area should I wish. Owning until death means dying rich and I can't see any way around that except renting.
@keepitreal1547

Renting a paid off house is definitely my way of doing it. That way I get a £1200 monthly income from it & still own it if I desire to go back living there, plus it's an asset for the kids. It's a no brained for me & I think for many, the better way. Even with a mortgage outgoing, rentals are high & so there will always be enough to pay the monthly mortgage, plus have money over. For me it's also a purpose built motorhome from new, instead of a built camper. The differences are huge in insulation, winterisation, tried & tested design/layouts available, durability, functionality, economy etc etc etc. Got to ask yourself, is great used £20-50k motorhome better than an equivalent cost homemade camper.
@adm58
7 ай бұрын
@@keepitreal1547the disadvantage of purpose built campers is that they are obviously just that. As, here in the UK at least, it's illegal to camp in one anywhere other than on a designated site, the potential for using one elsewhere is limited. A converted van can more easily be used as a stealth camper.
@keepitreal1547
7 ай бұрын
@@adm58 I agree & that's the only disadvantage I can see, but that said any self made camper with windows can & is seen as an overnight dwelling...& so exactly the same as a motorhome. Eg, the one this lovely couple has, is 100% a camper for travelling in & sleeping in. They & hundreds more like them hardly use sights. Park4night & other apps cater for all vehicles, regardless. Plus there's thousands of places in the UK, off the beaten track. In Wales this summer, I got chatting to a guy who's lived off grid in his old motorhome for the past 12years & will continue to do so, he says. Anything vehicle that is or looks like someone could be living in it will always get attention, the secret is not to attract attention by rubbing peoples noses in it. The only way not to get attention, is to deck out a van but have no windows.
Lovely couple with a great outlook on life. The van is great. What a wounderful rich life.

@@mavisgetsabout You guys are living life, you've sussed it out, what's important & what's not. On the build, what size is the engine please, plus the length of it in total bumper to bumper? What cost in total, including vehicle purchase? How economical to run? Are you mainly travelling the UK? How are you finding the very cold snap we're having? Hope you don't mind the questions.
Enjoyed listening to you as we've just done exactly this.. we bought a brand new L4H3 Iveco Daily and converted it into a winterised completely off grid liveable home in the first half of 2023. We had 3 months in France last summer and felt exactly like you, really chilled and relaxed. When we went back to the UK, sold all our cars and furniture etc and moved out of our house. My wife has a part time remote job with an employer that is happy for her to work from anywhere in the world. I've retired early and I'm writing this from a ski resort in the Alps where we'll be until the end of March.
Amazing! Such a nice build, me and the mrs gave up everything last year and moved into our crafter! It's been the best thing we ever did our family's thought we was crazy (only down side is only been able to spend 3months at a time in Europe) When it's rubbish weather in England

The 3months in 6months is the only downside & a big one for me, as I like the warmer weathers, but still we can only hope an agreement to relax things is made by those European countries & this shocking government asap. Spain are desperately wanting to open things back up for ease of travel, but are the Torries even interested?

Absolutely with you on this, the cost of living is ridiculous. I’m sick of giving all my money to the government, utilities and landlords. This is not living. When my daughter flies the nest in the next few years I’ll be doing exactly this, finding my freedom.
These people seem like a lovely couple and have found a lifestyle that really suits them and would suit many other people. I would have liked more information on the kind of places they stay at, how long they generally stay in one place and what kind of place this video was shot. Were they staying on a farmer's property who they paid a small fee to? It looks spectacular.
Great built and great couple. They're so laid back and so relaxed. It made me feel calm and relaxed watching them and makes me want to go out and buy me one 🤗

I started watching this type of content again recently and almost like a sign of the universe I got a letter today saying the landlord is jacking my rent up again. I live alone and 38% of my low income goes on just rent (not including bills)... I am basically being farmed for rent, taxes, and I am so done with it! Seriously considering this again!

@@Spoonfed78 Renting mine out returns me £1200 sterling per month, which is more than enough to travel & live, eat comfortably. With money over. Plus it still gives me the security of still owning the house, to move back to or an asset for the kids. Selling it would only mean me eating into the funds & such funds slowly depleting. The life is the same while living in my motorhome, the way to go about it, requires serious thought though.
