MOVING IN TO AN RV FULLTIME | TRIPPED RV EP1

After one year around the world we decided to build a business so that we can work on the road and move in to an RV full time! We are both new to RVing.
Come along as we shop for the RV, sell everything we own and move in to an RV fulltime with our dog!
We will RV across America for the next year.

We only knew one thing: we didn't want to stop traveling.
That meant we needed to figure out a way to support ourselves and be able to work from the road while we travel.
We spent one year living in Indianapolis building our Amazon business. TRIPPED Travel Gear is our Amazon store where we currently sell packing compression cubes and lightweight daypack backpacks.
Once we were able to get our business up and running we knew we could begin putting together the next trip.
With our new dog Pepper we weren't planning on taking many flights and knew an RV was going to be a great way to satisfy our work/life balance, travel with a dog, and see our beautiful country!
This "TRIPPED RV" Trip to Alaska is really only where the journey begins. The reason we are driving to Alaska is to begin the Pan American Highway. The "Pan American Highway" is just a lable (not one actual road) to describe the longest drivable distance on planet earth.
Beginning summer 2018 when we arrive in Alaska we will begin this Pan American adventure where we drive south (and likely change vehicles along the way to something smaller) down to the southern tip of Argentina.
Happy to have you along for the adventure!
LET ANOTHER SERIES BEGIN!!
March: Austin, Texas where we’ll catch you up on the story so far.
April: New Mexico, Arizona, Utah
May: Colorado, Wyoming, Montana
June: Alberta Canada (Banff & Jasper)
July: Yukon and Alaska
August: Far north of Alaska
September: Start heading South.
Oct-Dec: West Coast USA stuff before dipping into Mexico at the beginning of 2019
----------------
ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny.
We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test - one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

The struggle is real! I had to give you guys props after seeing all the work you've gone through. Right now, I'm working to start my own world traveling expedition. And just like you did, I'm trying to set up work that can go with me. Seeing all you're hard work - the months of prep, having to tell family and friends, and learning to use WordPress(seriously, how can it be so hard?) - that resonated with me. It's so tough to spend your extra time working, planning, and saving. It's a sacrifice to live for your dream, but it's amazing to see you do it. Your story really picked me up, and I love how excited you two are about traveling. Have fun with your new adventure, and here's hoping mine will start soon!

Dude- we're here and we're pulling for you. It's a hell of a grind and it helped a ton to have each other. All I can say to help is that it's been baby steps the entire time. My first Amazon products were laughable and I basically sold at cost. Fin spent a ton of time with different clients grinding it out to get her consulting off the ground. Then, on top of that, we worked on our KZread channel which barely got any views and the blog that only my mom ever looked at. We didn't do anything special- we just refused to give up and we continued to grind. We skipped nights out with friends, a lot of really fun weekends/parties, and basically gave up a year of leisure time- I even sold my xbox so I wouldn't be distracted! Sitting here now- it's worth it. Hell- Getting to walk in and quit my job made it all worth it- I guess this is gravy then. Whatever your plan is- keep going. If you go full throttle on something and it doesn't work, don't be afraid to pivot either!

TIM and FIN Thank you for the advice! Hearing what you went through really does make it seem possible. And I've definitely faced those same struggles. Lol, I think my grandpa was the only one reading my blog for a couple months. And, since I am also trying to freelance write, who knows how many unanswered emails I've sent. Staying distraction-free is hard too. Most people don't have a life-altering plan that they're working on everyday. Like you said in the video, "how often do you talk to your friends and ask: 'what's your two-year plan?'" Plus, that "why would you pick up and leave" response doesn't do much to help things. As I said though, it's inspiring to see two people who did it! You've obviously developed a major following, and gotten your business running. Your video quality is impressive too! I've been self-learning photography for blogging purposes, and I know it takes serious work to turn out a high-quality product like that. So keep going, because it's super-exciting to see! I look forward to watching your adventure unfold.

First and foremost, i am currently in Germany for work. Started watching your videos because i was looking for a Europe Backpacking trip idea. Looking to surprise my wife as our final amd youngest son will be off to college in 2019. ANYWAY - long story just to say you guys are great. Now im hooked and binge watching all things Tripped - Thanks! I was curious what your honest opinion of amazon store is? I was thinking of jumping in on that myself. Would you recommend it to a family member lets say? God luck and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research about mexico and crssing in south America. Tons of not so good people and DRUG smugglers - Americans are not very well liked down there right now.... Just research and be careful...God Bless....

Amazon has changed our lives. It also has been a TON of work....and stress lately. Amazon suddenly has a rep like its a MLM if you want to private label. Its nothing like that. On my own, I have to source good product, get it competitively and import it, and make sure its better than what other people are selling. In addition, there is all the tech/SEO/keyword side of things. I LOVE that we're making our own gear but its a continuous uphill climb. Just when we get one thing settled another problem/situation will arise. It's far from the "set it and forget it" that a lot of youtube "amazon gurus" say it is. I've told other people this- if you have any interest at all check out the amazing seller podcast 5 step roadmap to launching a product. Scott is not a cheesy "Make a billion dollars in a week guy". He knows what hes talking about and has a rich catalog of podcast that will help you get started faster.

TIM and FIN i feel as though a Hollywood star just wrote me an email :) LOL. I truly appreciate the quick yet detailed response. Im not afraid of work and I consider myself a little more tech savvy than your regular Joe - however you are right. Too many "gurus" out there are portraying it to be easy - where it looks a little overwhelming. It even seems as it can take a team of two (like you awesome guys) to make it work. I will continue to do my research. Last note you two ARE AWESOME! And please please please be careful when yo go through mexico and into south america. That area is NOTHING like what you have traveled so far. And a beatiful blond is something that can be very dangerous. So just pray about it before you go down there and do your due diligence. God bless guys....

I'm eventually going to put out an Amazon related video in regards to how we self finance our travels- I'll probably have to cheese up the thumbnail so its absolutely atrocious and refer to myself as a guru the entire time. I wish you best of luck on your amazon journey. Best thing I ever sank time into. As for Mexico and South America? There are places to stick to and there are places you don't go. There are an insane amount of people doing the PanAm these days and we're building our network up of people to get info from and places to go. We're also crazy excited because Fin speaks fluent spanish so things are going to be more "accessible" than ever as far as getting involved on a local level and being less of a tourist. I have to start with the Duolingo really soon here though...

Fin does HR consulting based on a long career of HR tech implementation. I (Tim) started working on Amazon about two years ago putting every shred of my spare time after work into it. I started learning about Amazon with a $500 order through Alibaba and over the past year its grown into something that will support both of us in 2019. The amount of time that I put into it is more than a full time job but its something I'm really passionate about.
