Moving from USA to Croatia - Sara Dyson
Sara Dyson, a Texas native and founder of Expat in Croatia, has lived in Split long enough to be considered local. Before Split, she lived in New York, Amsterdam, Florida, and California. When Sara moved here, there were no groups on Facebook or many pages in English that provided any information to the newcomers from other countries who decided to settle down in Croatia. This prompted her to begin sharing her own experiences, and that's how Expat in Croatia came to be. During our interview with Sara, we found out more about her life here, her work, the importance of community, her favorite spots in Split and Croatia, as well as some advice she had to share.

Welcome Sara, hope you'll make a Croatia your home. This is your country now as well.
Croatia is a gold pot, they just need to get the right people to run it.

Spent so much time at the MUP office in Split. I feel your pain.
Thank you Sara for the information. I'm a Texan living in Belgium. I'm an Expat. Lived in Rotterdam, Valbonne, Nice France, Bruges, Waterloo, Brussels, Belgium, Mexico City. I'm so looking forward to visiting Croatia this summer with my daughter, and perhaps looking for a change in logistics. Croatia has caught me attention and love what I have seen on videos but I am looking forward to see in real life. Specially the national parks and truly all 🇭🇷 ❤

Free advice. If you come to Split, Zagreb or any other larger city, find appartment outside of city center cause difference in prizes can be huge.

Much* potential, because potential is an uncountable noun while singers, dancers, countries -s, -es is a countable one for which many is used.
I was born in America to a Greek Cypriot mother and a 1st generation Italian American father. I would love to have some sort of European citizenship. My blood runs 100% European but it's not easy for me to get citizenship.

It's actually easy. Go to the nearest Italian Consulate or Greek with proof that your parents were born there. Either a birth certificate, old passport or an old ID card. Once you prove to them that your parents were born there, you have the right to that country's citizenship then. All you have to do is apply for one, once the Consulate/s are shown a document proving that they were born there.

If you are from Florida you should come to Dalmatia, Split, Šibenik or Zadar area. It's most similar to Florida region.

it is for locals hard to stay motivated, like today, if you know Croatian there are news every day that are sickening. The head of Split MUP is accused of tampering with the tickets and penalties received for him and his family/friends and assigning them to innocent people.
