Moving overseas with our family: leaving Australia for good to live in Croatia.

In this episode we share our journey of moving overseas with our family. We decided to pack up and move across the world to a small coastal town in Croatia, leaving Australia for good! We were tired of the hustle and bustle and guilt of big city living, working and having no time to enjoy one another. Join us as we embark on exciting boating adventures, exploring the hidden treasures of countless islands and secret spots throughout the stunning Adriatic Sea. With three little adventurers in tow, we've transformed our lives to provide them with a more balanced and nature-filled upbringing. Our mission is simple: to spend quality time together as a family, learn, grow, and create unforgettable memories along the way. Dive into our world of overseas living, adventure, and family bonding as we navigate the ultimate sea of experiences.

I'm 67, original from Germany. Having lived in Australia for 43 years, no way could I ever live in Germany again. Besides the weather, it's the people and the relaxed lifestyle that makes Australia such a great country to call home. The only thing I've missed over all those decades, and still today, is German food😉😊😊 Cheers, and all the best in your new home.

All well and good when you are at retirement age and own your own home. Anyone younger than 40 feel completely lost here. No amount of beautiful country can make up for having nothing even when I work my ass off and having literally zero future and nothing to look forward to. I'll never own a home. I'll never be able to go on holiday, none of that while I live here.

@@richardwozniak3238 Yes, I did as I was told by my masters😉😊 Seriously, as a sufferer from COPD I thought it wise to have 3 shots all up. At my age....not much to lose! If I was a healthy 25yo I probably wouldn't. Besides, soon after the OZ government relaxed o/seas travel restrictions I went to Germany, which would not have been possible by German law unless I was fully vaccinated. But I fully agree with your nanny country statement! I did not enter Australia as a poor migrant, but felt in love with a beautiful woman while working for a German company in OZ. My late wife was beautiful till the day she past away. My new country was also beautiful....for some decades....but has now turned into a sometimes ugly, cynical and domineering old woman.....sorry girls😉😊 But I guess, as we got older, we've gotten used to each other...the old couple symptom...Yes Dear....😂😂😂 I still love Australia very much and can't think of any country I'd rather live. Cheers, from Cairns.

@@white94rabbit I totally agree with you! The so called Australian Dream....being a home owner by the age of 30 with 2kids, a backyard, dog and cat, car, 3 weeks camping holiday, combined with a very affordable mortgage....is gone forever, at least for the majority of wage earners. However, I know a lot of young tradies in their 20's-early 30's , who took the risk, showed initiative and became self employed, that are doing very, very well! The pendulum has swung....the plumbers etc., once considered lower class workers....are today's kings😉 In the old day's, a good looking girl with a bit of education always wanted to ""Up marry"". Today, for a lot of professional woman, the perhaps not so sophisticated plumber, builder etc. may be the golden prince😉😊😊😊 But you are right....Australia is not the workers paradise it used to be....and that is very sad!

@@white94rabbit Respectfully, it comes down to choices, if you want those things you mention, you can get them with relative ease. Speaking from experience, I felt the same a few years ago, but made a choice to change my situation. Australia is full of opportunity, the easiest of which is in places most people don't want to live.

My only worry would be the future, the way the world is with wars and chaos, especially in Europe, then with the world financial crash that will come soon according to most economists and other financial pundits, I think I'd rather hedge my bets and stay in Australia. That said I'd stay well out of the big cities when this all finally goes down and move into a country area where water and food will be plentiful and the people a little more sane and stable. Good luck though, hope it works out for you

The trouble with Europeans , they never step foot out of our cities in Australia and all they do is work . Me and my husband travelled many beautiful national parks in Australia . We also do hiking . I know that Greeks aren’t like that and when they visit Europe they do everything touristy and they love it . . I know Croatia is beautiful but I hope your relatives are nice to you . I visited Cyprus , my parents country in 1992 and the relatives generally were horrible and we weren’t welcomed there because we weren’t born in Cyprus . I will never move there and I will continue my adventures in Australia . The younger generation of Australian born Greeks need to be open minded and not see things greener over the other side . Best of luck with your new life in Croatia . A great travel documentary and thank you .

To njihova smrdljiva vikinška vrsta radi uvijek.

in Croatia you drink tap water, nobody buys bottled water except tourists, they think it's like theirs :) yes, you are right about health care and the quality of medical services, it is at a higher level in Australia than in Croatia, but also in Croatia is getting better every day, although it is certain that Australia is one of the best countries in the world to live in. it is home to 250,000 Australians of Croatian origin, the tallest Dalmatians, and they are Australia's most famous tuna hunters and shipbuilders. they have been there since the beginning of the 20th century, and even before that they came to New Zealand, they are very successful there, one of the most famous descendants of New Zealand Croats is the famous singer Lorde, whose mother is a New Zealand Croat, and Lorde herself has Croatian citizenship, so many things combine Croatian and oceania. However, all the new generations speak English, so no problem!. I see that you live in Opatija, I am from Rijeka and maybe one day we will have the opportunity to meet on the street and maybe have a drink... In any case, welcome! Isa, the USA is a fantastic country but only let down by a poor health system and costly education. Then again Australia is slowly inching towards a similar user-pays scheme and I hope it stops! You’re lucky you can either live here or the USA. Both fabulous places. Admittedly as an Australian, I do find the USA more interesting and fun to visit. Unsure what it’s like to live there but it’s a great place for a holiday. I suggest don’t sell up in Australia. Go elsewhere and see how you find it.
