Moving a big wheel loader

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Taking the cab off a Cat 988b wheel loader, driving over a rusted out pickup truck, loading the loader on a truck, moving it, driving up my driveway, assemble loader, load, crush and install rock. Install brake lines.

The real question is what ultimately is all this work for? This has to be like 100's of thousands of dollars of work if you hired it out. Just to be able to drive up the mountain easier? To go snowmobiling? It doesn't really add up...

A little background on those pressure sensors/transducers...(As an engineer, I designed a manufacturing cell to make very similar ones.) The front (threaded end) marries up to a variety of back ends (electrical connectors) and vise versa. They are made with those pins so the manufacturer can stock various front and back ends to the customers order and they are just plugged together to create that size. Yours looks like a 3 pin Deutsch DT04-3P back end married to likely some hydraulic style female fitting. In the cell that I designed, we did a laser weld and then configured it and tested it on a custom machine with a PC. The ASIC chip you saw talks to a stress sensor that is mounted to a cap over the port hole that sees the pressure of your machine. More pressure, more stress on the cap and that is turned into an output signal. That was what you saw with those little wires coming out of what looked like a dome of jelly. The OEMs like CAT, JD, ect, commission the cheapest sensor they can get, pay about $25-30 for them and then sell you a replacement for $300.

  • @AndrewCamarata

*- Andrew, I crushed miles and miles of highway grade rock with a thirty six in big scallop portable crusher {the biggest east of the Mississippi River back in the 70's.* *- I suspect you will get much more consistent size product if you put in new bars at the spill point just above your jaw. The Pointy ones.* *- They are worn short and too thin and one is bent. Together the total wear issue cause for them letting rocks that are too wide and too big slip into the "Fines" shute instead of into the jaw to be crushed to grade.* *- That causes extra time and hassle, and aggravation, grading the material easily with either a loader, or grader.* *- It is stuff like these too worn bars that never get done on time because of expense and labor.* *- No one recognizes the expense that happens just because of the aggravation that shows up grading or the expense of having to do two passes to get things to rights when one is all that would be needed with material that was tight to spec.* *- I never worked that type of machine, but my instincts may be right. {They have bothered me since I saw them way back when you first got the machine, and I just can't keep my mouth shut any longer.}* *- Check with the manufacturer or a crusher boss who really does know the machines's design and how those bars need to be changed out even when it does not look like that is exactly what is needed.* *- If I am right you will be happy. If I am wrong then you have made some new friends that can help you get the most out of your equipment to make your jobs go better.*

*- Seems like us old guys might know something useful for those with ears to hear...* *- Let's hope Andrew wind's up seeing our attempt to help him.* *- Perhaps the worn "needle nosed" bars are not too expensive and not a huge job to replace.* *- My guess is that they should be designed for easy, quick replacement...but ignored all too easily.* *- The crew I crushed for would have immediately welded hardening surfaces onto the new bars, just like they did on all the loader buckets given the super hard stone we generally processed for road construction specs.*

The definition of Dexterity - piloting a drone whilst driving a massive CAT pay-loader… During my summer breaks whilst in university in the mid-80’s, I worked site construction prep, for my family’s RE development company, I usually ended up doing the most manual-labor tasks as my dad later told me that he wanted me to learn first-hand what it was that I never wanted to ever do again in my life… this work included manually digging post holes, one for each side of a 24 garage bay NYS highway dept maint facility garage, for which he was the overall general contractor for… also included schlepping dirt fill/concrete/asphalt/sandblasting/jackhammering/etc….seeing those county highways being resurfaced with the binder layer then overlayed w/ the fine-grade top coat layer, amazed me w/ the new “all in one” asphalt units that are now common
