I plan on getting some quail in spring looking forward to watching them flit around.

They look like there is no problem for them at all. Ours are now 9 weeks old and we have not lost any at all. Thanks for all the great info on these birds. God Bless brother.

I kept mine inside until they were a month old and fully feathered, and than I moved them outside, and I had one person commented on my video on Tok Tok , saying that I kept them too long , he said I need to keep them in a brooder for 8 days than take them outside, which maybe 🤔 makes sense because he lives in Texas 😄😂, and I live in the Massachusetts where it’s cold ) anyways great video beautiful birds 👍🏼

Chris, I moved my 4-week olds from the brooder to an unheated greenhouse over the weekend. Dropped to -8 that night. I only lost two out of about 100, so not too bad.

Thanks, Mr. Chris. Good video. That's quite a temperature change, but as a Montanan, I can testify that Caturnix are exceptionally hardy.

Quail are next on my list. But I have to wait until I finish my projects before I add new livestock. These videos are very educational

Quail are super easy. I was on the fence about adding anything else when my step brother emailed me and asked me if I wanted his daughter's quail because she wanted to focus on rabbits. I got 22 free quail, which ended up costing me around $200 in hutch materials. But they're fat and happy, and laying about four eggs per day. They don't eat much, either. Maybe 40 ounces of meatbird crumbles a day. I was going to make a feeder for them, but I had an old feeder from a "chick starter kit" I got at Rural King. I haven't noticed any feed on the ground under the feeder, so they aren't making a mess with that bell feeder either.

nice of Max to be running security for any escaping birbs while your transferring them to the growout cage. I dont know what it is about your videos that are so relaxing and enjoyable to watch.

Yah snow and cold is not a problem for quail, but it sucks if you have to walk though deep snow to get to your birds. Like today I awoke to over a foot of snow.

would wild quail find a brush pile and semi-burrow a windbreak? --- i wonder if the big chunky mesquite charcoal would be cozy and beneficial as a bedding and also smell absorbing? ---you could ever rinse it off

Hello. Can I ask you is there any quail that I could raise and be paid raise and release by the state of Texas. Like endangered breed type

Yesterday I found one of my quail dead, examined it and no sign of injuries It was really cold so I think it froze to death Fully grown quail so not sure why it happened

Besides age, how can I tell that my birds are fully feathered? I have Jumbos.

Last night my docile male was attacked by a very aggressive male and brutally killed. There was blood everywhere. That leaves me with 9 females and one male in a 24 square-foot cage. Do I keep the male for breeding or should I wait for another male? Is aggression a genetic trait? Should I replace the aggressive male ASAP? What should I do? I feel I should send him to freezer camp as soon as possible. I won't tolerate that for a minute longer than absolutely necessary.
