This song is like three stages. The first stage he's feeling great and seeing the red color of being in love but he's also questioning if it's real. The second stage beginning around the 3:30 mark is like him waking up but when you're half awake and trying keep the dream going. Then the last stage of the song is realizing it was a dream. The music becomes faint and dull and grey.

Well, I was living the dream(metaphorically)..unaware what that could ever mean.
