Definitely something to keep an eye on. I do hope that the animation gets a bit zanier in the future, less solid, more bendy and prone to bizarre shapeshifting, really lean into the bizarre style of 1930s cartoons. The guns themselves should feel like a character and not be bound by rules of realism.

Wouldn't this be funnier with funky animated weapons too making callbacks to other cartoons of that age? The revolvers, TNT, and gloved hands are a classic, you got those. How about a lit cigarette substituting the melee knife, muskets, throwable anvils, irons, bowling balls, pies, pianos and whatnot. Also funny names (like calling the hammer "anesthesia" and coupling it with a bottle of a nondescript beverage?)

At first I was thinking about how this does a pretty good job of avoiding copyright infringement on Mickey Mouse while still being derivative, but then I remembered he’s in the public domain now, so it doesn’t even matter.

We didn't break any copyright rules for sure. Our designs look a lot like, but they're not exactly the same. It's more like a nostalgic homage than a direct copy.

I totally getcha, and like I said, this does a great job of being reminiscent of those old cartoons without directly copying them. I was just saying that since Disney is known to overstep their boundaries in the world of copyright, it’s nice to not have to worry about that in this case.

Posting this here since I'm not sure if you guys have any suggestion forums, but when it comes to the game's textures/art style, texture things that the player is supposed to interact with (cars, items, doors, etc) in a very basic style using a few solid colors, then make things the player cant interact with (buildings, backgrounds, props) insanely detailed. This way you could replicate classic cartoons adding less detail to moving objects so the animators save time. You could even poke fun at the kinda lazy animation style by integrating it into game design (The player must enter a correct door to progress the game, every door is heavily detailed, except for the one the player needs to enter)

This really looks interesting and neat, I definitely would look forward to it. I also notice the thompson might a bit obnoxious to use, I would suggest removing the screen shake and replaces it with the penalized accuracy when players decide to shoots longer with it e.g for example in Bioshock. (although the screen shake isn't snappy in that game)

This is a bit of a wilder take but I think a more knockback influenced playstyle would fit the artsyle well, ontop of giving the game a unique identity and sense of impact. If players are chaining kills together give them some ammo back for how long the kill combo was. EX: 3 part punch, Pistol Headshot, Pistol Headshot.
