People said that they saw lust, adoration and hunger in his eyes respectively, despite it was same neutral looking face. So probably it's just we imagining sadness in mouse.

Being raised around farms it surprises me that the birds didn't make it a joint effort. I've seen chickens dismember and share snakes as well as eat field mice whole !

Yup, corvids are the natural born assholes of the animal kingdom.

Magpie boxed very well in the opening round, controlling the pace throughout and held the centre of the path. The long to mid range pecks, great footwork, Roland had no answer. Later in the round, Magpie had Roland backed into a corner with hard straight pecks, Roland fought back with some excellent counter attacks and had some nice defensive head movement, was it enough to win the round for Roland? I don't think he so. A 10-8 round magpie, he is definitely up on the scorecards. Roland's corner will have some choice words and will have to change a few things in the next few rounds or it could be a bad night for Roland, the ref could stop things early.

What happened after the video? I moved the rat to a safe place in some bushes with dense vegetation nearby and gave it food. Why didn't I interfere earlier? Cause I expected the rat to fight back and scare the bird off. This is how nature works after all, if I were not there it would have to keep fighting or give up anyway. Many of the people here are sympathizing with the rat but if it appeared at their house, they probably wouldn't hesitate to use poison or other ways to get rid of it. The irony of life. He once fed it a grown live rat... he had to step in more then once, cause the rat was about to do some serious harm to that snake, jumping around, on its head... biting its head, that was some crazy action I witnessed there. That rat would have killed the bird in seconds.

This is a very young juvenile rat, just weaned and learning the cruelty of the outside world. Already injured, and can't put up much of a fight. Sadly, I don't think the rat will live very long after this. The lives of wild animals is so harsh, should make one appreciate the luxuries we have.

@@lenaa541 It's a magpie, they aren't stupid enough to make a mistake like that. Most corvids prey on mice and rats with this strategy, wearing them down until they can no longer fight back, then either piercing a vital organ or pecking at them until they bleed out.

The bird's not the kind of friend you need when you're trying to hide. 😅

Odd. I saw another video of a cat torturing a rat while it cried in fear and agony. And most of the commenters were overjoyed. Is it the difference between the torturer being a cat instead of a bird? In any case, these are good videos to keep and show people that you don't know very well. If they enjoy it, and don't feel sympathy, run.

rats doesn't have any weapon to protect themselves from any attacker..................

Now we know why rats are great survivors ..The Magpie would have flown had you made a move.I hope Mr Rat made a full recovery 👍 Like Magpies and crows but also like rats ...Same family as Squirrel but sadly not got the bushy tail.
