A few stairs and a sandsection an you have a fine cyclo-cross parkour here

There is no mountain biker on the planet that would ride this course and say "I just went to a mount bike ride" even beginners.

I'm a serious MTBer and this seems like a road course/CX race. The guys who chose to ride hardtail were smart, less weight and better for climbing. No need for full travel here.

I was thinking the same, man even with more bumps I would stay on a hardtail....Way faster and my bump can take it nooooo stresss

It was a great atmosphere, you can hear my cowbell giving it hell for leather at the rock garden. 😂 Pidcock was awesome, they all were.

Maybe they should use CX bikes for this. At least some riders were smart enough to use hardtails.

Too many weekend warrior critics, not sure why they try to diminish these racers, doubt that many - if any - could make a showing. Perhaps that's why they sit and watch rather than securing a multi-million $ contract with one of the world's biggest teams. Who knows?

@@smithgov Yes, and big mountains too. However, competitions such as this are inclusive of spectators, few spectators would be likely to spend hours getting to the more dramatic runs as they are largely downhills, which is a different thing entirely. PS don't be so damned condescending!

Este circuito tan rápido, sin barro ni dificultad técnica alta ha favorecido a un profesional de la carretera como Pidcock. Parece que pensaron en él cuando lo diseñaron jejeje. Bueno, a parte de eso, Thomas demuestra ser un gran ciclista multidisciplinar.

Is it just me or the euro XC peloton is bigger and heavier than ever before? Those guys look massive. No wonder Pidcock smoked them... he must be 10kg lighter than the average rider in the race.

Roadies are real Pros. They are on different level. Though most of them aren't skilled enough, but the few who have MTB or CX background easily beat the "amateur" MTB guys. Beacuase XC MTB is far from the World Tour level.

That's the style nowadays, and you need it for better fine control, as some bikes have much slacker head angles.

pidcock strted in cyclo cross, then gave the elite roadies a masterclass in how to desend in the tour de france......

you could do this on a road bike.. should have switched to a CX bike at least, would have been way faster and easily won the race

The problem is that everyone probably wants to save money, and Munich organized nine European championships at once - in one big event. Starting with athletics, through table tennis, speed canoeing and including mountain biking. I can't even remember the rest of the sports... In principle, it may not be a bad idea, it saves time, money and a lot of travel, but some sports obviously pay for such "centralization"...

He has been riding bikes since he was a baby. His Mother and Father are very keen cyclist, they cycle for a club, he also has a younger brother who is pretty good. Cycling family.

What an absolute joke of a MTB course! 100' of technical terrain per lap! Give me a break!

I cannot stand these sanitised XC courses. There is no more skill involved in riding this course that commuting to work on a Brompton Folder....... I know it's all done for TV and to get easy access for crowds etc, but what's wrong with having a proper off road course with natural hazards and obstacles? This is just a Cyclo Cross race on fat tyres. Willing to bet Pidcock could have won this more easily on a Gravel Bike.

Mountain biking?! What a joke. This isn't even a cyclo cross race as half the course was on tarmac. This is an embarrassment to the sport.

London Olympic course... That event where the money talks louder than the track.. looks like an amateur event🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 oh there's a "barrel garden"!!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 There was this Red Bull freeride event in this place that was terrible really bad made. I know this park is so beautiful but you insist in doing events that's is no good for MTB.

A gravel bike would've been more suitable for this track...even a road bike would've done the job. Pathetic track selection for mtbs
