Mount Washington Spring Summit Trip | Scenic Drive, Reflections | White Mountains Hiking
Wow! Mount Washington, New Hampshire...I went into this trip unsure if I would be able to make it to the summit after reading the reports leading up to that day (April 1st, 2024). But it was meant to be! Special thanks to my hiking buddy, Rhys, for helping me get to the summit (and down safely). We took Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail up and down, using Crawford Path to cross up to the summit. I needed up taking a high trail back because I was not comfortable crossing back down over the snow field with how my spikes were interacting with the ice/snow conditions in the afternoon. It took a tiny bit longer, but it was worth it for me to be comfortable and safe. Happy with my choices for this spring summit with some winter-like conditions!

if you know, you know ! I am so jealous , we are 15 into our NH48 and I am both excited and scared to death of Washington. So happy you had a successful trip!

I've had crampons for years but have never actually used them in the Whites. They are overkill almost all the time...though certainly they can come in handy on occasion. Glad you found a friend up there.

Glad I did too 🙏 yea, I’m also inherently clumsy, so crampons are more risky for me 😅 that day, they definitely would’ve given me more bite for the snow field turned ice field, but most people were just fine in spikes; my fear of heights made that area feel more sketchy in general, something wearing crampons may have helped with for that mental game. Thanks for hanging out 👋
