Mount Meru Climb in Tanzania

‪@JacksonGroves‬ and I trekked Mount Meru (4566m) in Arusha National Park with Altezza Travel. We took the 4 day route, and hiked past Giraffe, Buffalo, Warthogs, Zebras and monkeys to reach Tanzania's second highest peak. Sunrise at the summit was one of my favorite memories from my time in Tanzania, and I'd say Mount Meru is Africa's most underrated peak. If you're in Tanzania, I'd highly recommend adding a Mount Meru climb to your itinerary!

Hey, great video! quick question.. can you summit this mountain on your own, without using a travel agency? or is it similar to Kilimanjaro park where you cannot be there without a guide? thanks :)

You cannot go into any Tanzanian National Park without a guide because of animals, necessity to control human activity in parks and because this way guides and porters secure a living. If you want to summit some of Tanzania's mountains with no guide you can summit Mt Ketumbeine (2942m), Mt Gelai (surprisingly also exactly 2942m), Mt Monduli (2652m) or Mt Hanang (3520m). These mountains are not in national parks but you should note there is a high chance on most of these mountains to encounter potentially deadly wild animals as they are very close to national parks. You can easily find hyenas, lions, buffalo, elefants...etc. Longido mountain and Oldonyolengai are in national parks but would only cost between 60 and 100 dollars including a guide to summit. Also note that finding accomodation for these mountains might be hard as they are in very remote areas and you might need a tough 4x4 or walk through the savannah for many many kilometers.

@@OctavianGreculetz I was mistaken, Mt.Hanang is also nature reserve and you need a guide. Like longido and oldonyolengai it’s only like 50$. Pole!
