The juxtaposition of your dog snoring through a violent storm is hilarious. Also appreciate the fact that you didn't get all hysterical like so many other storm chasers. You stayed calm which allows the viewer to better perceive the storm on its own merits. We don't need a hysterical play-by-play description of the obvious. So thank you for that.

This is destined to be a classic due to several things: The completely incredible evolving tornado(es) that are beautifully backlit; your dog being so chill that he/she is actually asleep; but most of all your calm demeanor. You let the storm tell its own story instead of screaming for us to LOOK AT IT OH MY GOD (yes, we see it) and IT'S GONNA BE A HUGE WEDGE!!! (even if it's a little landspout). @@BTSloan70 Nah Reed is just that passionate and very much a adrenaline junkie and does amazing scientific experiments to better understand tornadoes, not many do more for the science than Reed. His whole life revolves around extreme weather, not to mention one of the nicest guys, and loves to teach what he knows. We honestly need more like Reed that is passionate about the science side of tornadoes. I understand he gets crazy literally every time, but its just who he is, he is that passionate about it. His weather briefings are super educational, iv learned a ton from him.
@RedRaptor-ik6jt
Ай бұрын
@@donny5318 I do love his weather briefings, and I agree that he is a great educator who has contributed a lot to the science. But it is also a worthy criticism of him that he chooses to yell and scream. Even when he is giving instruction or asking a question to someone else, it is always a scream if a tornado is in view. One cannot merely chalk it all up to "passion" as it is important to maintain some level of composure after years of experience.

These tornadoes are an excellent example of why in Skywarn training we are told to look at what is happening at ground level as well as in the sky. This is a good example of why you need to not focus on one tornado, or there might be another right behind you. When I was working back in the early 90's, a tornado came through, and one of the guys watched cross the highway. But what he didn't see was a second one coming up from behind. It twirled him like a top, before leaving him there a little worse for wear. It put him in the hospital with a story to tell.

@@StasisChasing yea thank you most of all for the footage! Glad you were not in its path. When it had over 3 multiple vortices and spirals going up, that was mesmerizing and terrifying that’s why I think I love looking at tornadoes (vicariously) is because of the major duality of their beauty and horror.

Those multiple vortices dancing around each other are hypnotizing. Amazing what nature can do.
I appreciate you not yelling and screaming like a lot of chasers do, its so annoying and obnoxious! You got some great footage, I was raised in Iowa in fact Iowa city Iowa. We didnt see a lot of tornados but did have a lot of severe storms. Back in 1966 a tornado did come through town and hit the city park everyone was there to watch the fireworks on the 4 th of July, lots of damage trees uprooted cars smashed the little zoo was hit after it crossed the river it headed north to farm country. Have a safe spring chasing these amazing storms just stay safe!!
That is the most bizarre tornado I’ve ever seen. Great footage. I’m hoping an explanation is forthcoming for why there were so many twins, triplets, and whatever-the-hell this thing is produced by this outbreak. I like how the 2nd tornado formed a vortex breakdown bubble with helical vortex at the start.
Wow, never seen a tornado with do many tentacles. It changed do muvh! It would dissipate and a few seconds later come back massive again. Really good catch. 20 miles by road from me, probably 10 as the crow flies. We only got a sprinkle and no significant wind. Thankful and prayers for this small farming community.

If you were looking solely at the sky you might have missed the ground circulation that was still going on after the visible part of the funnels appeared to lift.
Awesome footage of this multi-vortex beast. With the way it kept trying to drop different tornadoes, I had a feeling it was going to combine into a mult-vortex terror (could see many different other potential tornadoes trying to drop out of that mesocyclone complex that didn't, too). Very angry mesocyclone structure.
These sub vortices appearing out of nowhere are terrifying. Great video. 👍
