If this version of Lucky Star did not have all these advertisements for existing properties, it would probably be equally as great as K-On!. We watch anime, not commercials. Thankfully, the Lucky Star manga did not have that. Konata just talks about tropes in fiction, and Kagami corrects her.

Zuki There are scenes in the anime that are basically commercials for existing anime. That is why we hate those, even if we love Initial D, Pokémon, Haruhi Suzumiya, or others. We watch anime for the visuals, characters, and stories, not for the commercials. Imagine playing a video game, and you have to watch an ad in order for you progress in the game.

This and its older equal Azumanga Daioh sure have the most nonsensical yet very catchy songs in animation history. And I must say, the animation is nicely fluid at times, especially at Konata's gesturing and the cheerleader section.

Fun fact! Nobody said "weeb" back when I first watched dubbed lucky star on youtube on my Nintendo Wii in 2008. They didn't even say it in 2016 when I re-watched this. When people do say "weeb" now, I can't tell if they're being hostile, or being proud. This is why I like "otaku" better. It's been reclaimed by the west to be considered largely a positive thing like "stan" seems to be.

Yes its very similar situation to Stan the Eminem song becoming just really enthusiastic mildly obsessed fan from its more warped origin. But the nobody said thing comes from your ignorance because you just weren't in the right communities at the time. Weeb outdates Lucky Star by a couple years from about 2005 4chan era. It comes from a comic book the same year as a punchline. It means wannabe japanese not nerd/geek like otaku. Like moron or retard, it got overused and lost its original purpose entirely. Now its more anime fan term of endearment but it was describing someone very cringe try hard like what the fuck are you doing with your life. Like how most people still view furries
