I think the updated tail lamps are extraordinary looking.

As of today, 08/31/2020, many owners of this model, 2010 S400 have the same problem/issue with its Inverter Power Electronic Unit. The car stopped at the middle of intersections without any warning. First few times, we were able to start again but then it is totally dead. The car would not even start at all due to the unit. Mercedes knows of the problem but does not offer the solution except to replace the unit but the same thing happens again a few years later. I wonder if CNET could do anything to help, maybe contacting Mercedes to help solving this problem. Mercedes should step up to resolve this problem as it always says "THE "BEST OR NOTHING". The symptoms for this problem are all Command centers stops working, radio, bluetooth not working, AC intermittently stops working, car stops at intersections (SAFETY) concern. Will appreciate if owners have the same problem should post comment so Mercedes can be more aware of the problem and step up to help solving this problem.!!

This is a problem that happens with most hybrid vehicles. After so many years of age or high miles it starts to basically crap out on you. As far as automakers are concerned they figure if you have the money to spend on a hybrid (brand new or just slightly used), then you'll have the money to just buy a new one. Because to get this problem fixed is basically like buying another engine for your car. Of course when people go to dealerships to buy a hybrid or all-electric vehicle they don't say to the customers, oh by the way once you hit about 75,000 miles or more the vehicle is basically useless.

The only hybrid you can trust is a Toyota. Mercedes has absolutely no idea how to design a hybrid.

Voice over sounds like the yelling of a used car dealer advert. Too bad no info on the actual driving experience was given short of PR blurbs. The car deserved better.

I just sold my 2011 S400 hybrid for $15565 cause Even Mercedes give 10 years warranty on their hybrid system but won’t cover hybrid module turn bad which going to cost me $12000 I also find out if main battery need replace will cost me $18000 ! I decided it’s time to let it go !

@mcarthurwallace I got into argument about how the Japanese rip of ideas from the Germans, its nice to hear from someone else for a change.

Why compare an S430 to an S550? Apparently, the mpg doesn’t match an E350, even though it’s roughly the same engine. Perhaps, the S430 would put your 400 to shame.

@coandcaiv the only way that this will remind u of a hundai is because of the front huh? but hundai stole the front design from mercedes benz, and all of their engine parts are basically an unamed bosch kind of company, all parts for them are made in germany btw mercedes ftw.

it would do better with weight savings and a FULL electric drive mode... but some people don't understand that some hybrids aren't gonna pull Prius numbers because they're hybrids not green cars a hybrid is a cross between two things (electric and gasoline in this case) and just because its a hybrid doesn't mean its gonna pull spectacular numbers...

That is a crazy comment, as no one really buys an S-Class for "economical or envronmental value". Buy a Prius for that BS.

They could have just switched the v8 to a v6 and got the same if not better results. With this boat you'd be paying for it to say "hybrid" other than that there is no environmental or economical value in this car.

Bring out a hydrogen powdered S-Class Damilar.

This car is a complete failure from mercedes. :( not much better than the s550 in mpg but a lot worse in 0-60. An s550 is a better choice because the person who can afford an s models can sacrifice 1mpg or two.
