    If you have this body style, get a tune put into it. It makes a HUGE difference. I have a 2010 model with dual Flowmasters exhaust, CAI, and a tune. 305 hp, 280 torque with 93 octane tune. A 2010 without the mods, only 250 hp and 250 torque. The 2011 and newer are 305 hp and 267 torque. I would estimate that a tune would give about 15 hp and 15 torque increase, but someone that has the tune can confirm. The 2010 v6 is about 3800 pounds. If you want a fast , back roads street hugging car, get the v8 or a v6 or v8 Mustang or Camaro . Even a v6 Mustang or v6 Camaro is about as fast as a v8 Challenger. I have the Challenger and love my car. Just buy a car for what YOU are looking for, just know the difference in the two type of cars and you will not be disappointed. I drove Mustangs for 25 years straight, and got many compliments, but no where near as many compliments as I do with my challenger.

    There has been a lot of variations in 0-60 times. What many don't realize (including the testers themselves possibly) is Dodge changed transmissions up and went with a 5spd automatic with the autostick option (even though they still list it as a 4 spd in some literature). They made the change in later 2009, so a few 09s and all 2010s will have the revised gearing. Whether this one was actually a 5spd or not....?? Not here to give any opinions, just thought I'd share what I heard. :)

    A colleague of mine often complained about two of his Chrysler cars having problems. It turns out he learned they put engines that were too low of displacement to handle the weight of the car for what would be considered a normal car life. I once owned a Plymouth Breeze. Not the most expensive car I've ever owned, but one of my favorites. The engine was actually well suited for the weight. Imagine that. I don't hate Chrysler, but stop putting these itty bitty engines in jumbo cars...

  • @Jack_Stafford

    @Jack_Stafford

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, but can a Mustang fit for full-sized for cruising up and down Main Street on Friday night? Does it have the same stable and comfortable highway ride derived from the Mercedes S-Class chassis, as the Challenger? Not everybody is looking for the ultimate speed per cubic inch while carrying one passenger. Some people have practical concerns like friends or maybe even a child seat, or maybe they just appreciate a more comfortable car which makes a car like the Challenger a lot more practical than a one-trick pony like the Mustang. The Challenger is very customizable. The V6 versions can be thought of more as a replacement or substitute of the large mid-sized Cutlass Supremes Thunderbirds and Monte Carlos of the 70s 80s amd 90s, as sporty looking comfortable "personal luxury coupes". The stiff, overpriced ones with the hemis are the ones more meant to deal with people that only have one concern, being speed. Both are valid markets that the Challenger addresses perfectly, but the Camaro and the Mustang don't address the less sports-oriented sporty luxury comfort crowd at all. Did I mention the solid Bulletproof and quiet S-Class chassis riding underneath this thing for comparatively very little money? I just wish they would just some more cosmetic changes, while keeping it retro it makes it harder and harder to sell a new car that looks like a fifteen-year-old car. Maybe restyle it to make it look more like the two-door Charger like the Dukes of Hazzard had. Headlights that flip open would also be a great touch. And for the love of God offer a bench seat option. Some of us like to sit right next to our Honeys at the drive-in movie without that giant console getting in the way. T-tops also would be a fun special edition option. And convertibles. And a full luxury trim level with a tidy vinyl roof like the original Camaros had, chrome accents around the grill, mirrors, taillights Etc, Comfort oriented interior and even more quiet tuning. There used to be more luxury oriented versions of the Mustang and Camaro like the Berlinetta but they dropped that several Generations back. Dodge went 75% of the way with this retro look and appeal, just never have seen able to hit that last 25% that really can make a car a collectible classic forever.

    @@Jack_Stafford the only thing took from an s class chassis my friend is the control arm front suspension from the W220 S Class, a 24 year old car. As well as that, the LC platform (08-15 Challengers used this) wasn’t derived from any S Class.

  • @Jack_Stafford

    @Jack_Stafford

    @@user-zg9nl8gl2g I said S class, but should have just said "Big Benz". I was referring to the S class mainly when it came to size class and comfort. But they share A LOT with various Benzes. Feel free to google. It was based on the W210 platform, shares transmissions, front and rear suspension parts, steering column, many electronics, and on and on. And they still work and perform great today on a VERY afordable car, even if it is "luxury" tech and developed some years ago, doesn't make it any less excellent. AMG even assisted with the SRT packages. No way to deny it, these cars share FAR more in common than they differ. It's actually an excellent business case of how to tailor the same platform to different markets. Keep what works, change only what needs it.

    @@Jack_Stafford Yeah that sounds about right, the 300 and Charger are basically a mix of the W210 and W211 even today, here in Europe we even got the first and second gen 300/Thema with a diesel, sourced from Mercedes (OM642). Good chassis, it was falling a bit behind before they released the newer platforms however.

The Camaro's interior is horrible -- next to the new Mustang interior, its not even competitive.

    Dont get me wrong,250hp is ALOT for 3.5 liters,but fuck chrylser put the challenger on a diet,you got looks down pat,but in handling,fuel economy and performace you fall short,imagine how quick the SRT would be with 3500lbs or so.I mean fuck,my cavalier is quicker than this challenger se.And 25 mpg just isnt worth a 16 sec 1/4 mile.

    I'd say only you're safe from getting hit by anything heavy with that type of weight on it sounds more like a safety issue to me at this point they should have made a dummy video otherwise anything I'd say nonetheless would matter at this point!🤷👶

    Wow thats pretty weak fuel economy for what you get. 25 Hwy and 17 City? The Mustang GT 05-10 gets that and 300hp. Hell even the 300hp V6 Camaro does better. I think its time to put Chrysler down. Unimaginative, heavy, and dated technology just wrapped in a new package. As beautiful as the body is, this overweight car really suffers because of this.
