I'm still driving my 05 Mazda 3 2.3 hatchback with a 5 speed manual. It now has 230K miles and still going strong.

I wonder why John called this (and the 2003 Corolla) a subcompact. They were both bigger than the Echo, for example.

My Dad had a 2004 Mazda3 hatchback with absolutely no options and a manual gearbox. He put 169,376 kms on the clock before trading it in in 2011 for a three year old Acura MDX

Woooooow, under 8-sec 0-60 in a naturally aspirated 4 banger? That's some serious speed for its price!!

The original (Gen 1) Mazda 3 was the best!

Small car with a big heart. Though i think it would've been significant for them to put the side airbags in as standard seeing as young families would buy this car.
