I have mines since 2000 Se. It has 217,000 miles. Engine, transmission and suspension all redone few years back. I use it for work commute. 245/45r18 tires vastly improves fwd handling.
Still my favorite Maxima to date. My grandpa had a 2000 Maxima & I drove it several times. One of the best cars I've ever driven hands down. I remember it had a very firm ride, but very agile handing & that V6 was very smooth, powerful & sounded great.

I love Nissam Maxima, great and nice car
My dad passed down to me his '02 Maxima GLE with the updated engine. That car is fast for its day, but in 2022 it still goes very nicely.
The last good looking Maxima imo.
Factoid . Nissan salesmen had to take certification tests , so I remember. The SE for 2001 (mid year intro June 2000) had over 240 hp in actuality . w opt viscous limited slip diffs , Michellin performance tires , and manual , many testers got 5.9 and 14. 7 quarter miles with a pro driver on a real drag track . But they were really abusing the clutch at the ride and drives !!

The 99 SE with the door badge 5 speed was my favorite
Fortunate enough to own one of these gems with 116k miles as of the time I write this comment. It is indeed a special car, ESPECIALLY today. You don't see many of them, and usually when you do they're beat up pretty bad. The 90s and early 2000s were definitely a golden age in automotive design.

Just bought a very clean 2000 GXE myself. It’s a one owner with 110k miles. Got it for $3,600 which may be a bit on the high side but it’s getting pretty hard to find them that aren’t junked out.

@TacSavage nice! Mine had little over 90k when I got it.... has 147k and some change on it as of today and it's been wonderful. Drive about 50k miles a year, super comfortable car
I bought my 2000 Maxima Base Model w/5 speed manual and 175,000 miles on it 7 years ago. 250,000 miles on it now and it hasn't lost a step.
I LOVE THIS CAR TO DEATH ❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the best Maxima’s😁👍
These were great. I still prefer the 98-99 models. But by 2002-2003 this gen was stellar as well.

It was a beautiful car. I loved the Spyder GT model the most. The 3.0L V6 sounded awesome too.
So despite the VQ engine, and the output being increased from 190hp to 222, the 0-60 time was still slower then both the outgoing model (95-99) as well as the 3rd gen SE (92-94). The times for those were 7.0 & 7.2, respectively. Also, the 3rd gen in particular had a far greater stopping distance than both models at 108ft, as opposed to the terrible 130ft. Interiors in these models were bland and lacked character. By far, the quickest, best looking, and most memorable Maxima is the 3rd gen - 89-94. It sold over 163k units for the 94 model alone, which is still the all time highest selling Maxima year ever. The numbers don't lie. 3rd gen for the W!

@MrSirGiuseppe

3rd gen I believe had irs which is likely why it has better stopping distances. The one thing we can all agree on is anything after the 2003 is pretty lame. The 6 speed was still offered until 07 and even though that car had irs as well, ive never been a big fan of them. 4th and 5th gens are my favorite but thats because they were what was relevant.
@skylinefever

I prefer the 4th gen because it got the VQ engine, which eliminated the timing belt of the VG30E and didn't have the trouble prone VVT sprockets of the early DOHC Maxima.
@sinistersmallblock
3 ай бұрын
@@skylinefeverThe 3rd gen SE had the VE engine with a timing chain, and it also was the predecessor to the VQ. The weight difference of less than 100lbs for a cast iron block (VE) over the VQ for only 10 additional HP over the VE is insignificant. I'd rather the 3rd gen for boost applications. Plus, there is still the issue of bland styling and interior colors from almost every model year up until 2021. The 3rd gen was the last great Maxima they went all-in on without compromise. That all changed in 95.

They sadly are all rusting out. The few that I see in NJ this decade have holes in their rocker panels and wheel arches. The 4th gens are even worse. Southwest examples are surviving. Other than rust, nothing can kill these masterpieces. Best moderate priced family sedan ever! And the VQ is one of the best engines of all time.

When they get old, the timing cover would leak over the RF control arm bushings. That would make the timing cover gasket replacement a must, and it isn't easy on those cars. I live in Florida, and would see a lot of freelance mechanics buy those when they needed a timing cover gasket or water pump. They would buy the car cheap from a private seller, do those jobs, and get a few more years from those cars.
Anyone know what the background music is? I love it!
My mom had one of these, 2000 GXE in the light blue color they made it in. It was a gorgeous car but unfortunately they were not the most reliable nor did the paint hold up well. we had to get rid of it because it rusted out but i am constantly on the hunt for a perfect one that ill be able to call my own, i feel this is the best maxima made

"Hello Alyjah, hope you're doing well 🎉Happy New Year🎊 "I like your comment with your thoughts, you are very right and assertive, Nissans those years were still good cars, I had a 1987 Pulsar that I bought from an aunt in very good condition it was always kept in the garage, very simple and reliable car, I also used my sister's 1999 Nissan Altima and boy I loved that car, it was fast, super smooth ride, reliable with cool features, I used it for a period of a month and I wanted to keep it but didn't have the money to buy from my Sis, you know I have come across a 2003 Nissan Maxima GLE Silver color very good shiny paint, black leather interior, Michellin smooth tires, with low 96,000 miles for it's age and my neighbor is asking $3,500 for it, I want it but I also come to think that it is a 20year old car and I think that in the long run it will eventually start giving me problems due to its age, besides i already own two cars, I really would like to buy it, I know I won't be able to have the same opportunity very easily, I dont know what to do??

@@soul2soul429 I have an 03 Maxima GLE and haven't had any major issues with it so far. Only done routine maintenance like spark plugs, ignition coils, oil changes and things of that nature. One thing that does happen on these 5th gens is the power steering starts to leak, and that just started happening on mine. I think $3,500 is a fair price but if you already have two cars it might not be a great idea. Cars this old are happier driven regularly. They also aren't super rare so I think another opportunity might come up.
