    We have a all electric Class A diesel pusher. We tow a Lincoln MKX. Lincoln says we can not exceed 70 mph towing or we could damage the transmission. So I usually set the cruise control for 67. We have zero problems with hills. We run the generator full time when we are not connected to shore power. We average 7.5 mpg.

    The genset only uses about 1/2 gallon per hour. We are pulling a 4800lb Wrangler 4 door. We average 6-7 mpg cruising at 60-65 mph on flat level highway. Don’t use your cruise control if the tranny shifts out of 6th. I actually never use the cruise. Everyone talks about how motorhomes get terrible mileage but they never consider that you don’t travel everyday. Staying a month at a time gets you better rates at the parks. Safe travels.

Did you have their pasties there? And fudge? That’s what they are know for there. They are good. Looking forward to next video. Safe travels. Have a great weekend.

    It doesn't have a CVT, or at least the hybrid doesn't. Maybe the plug-in one does? It's really easy to put into tow mode too, you don't have to pull any fuses or do anything funny - just run the engine for 5 minutes and put it in neutral.

    @@Five2Go we're just under 40 ft for the coach. We try to keep weight down and 65 mph is about as fast as I like to roll. I would not choose diesel for the mileage alone, but there's a benefit for some if you can carry significantly more payload with the same or better mpg

    Class A gas-rigs get horrible fuel economy... it's the poor BTUs in the fuel and the inefficient engine design. I get about 11.5 mpg with my 2017 35 foot Thor Palazzo 35.1 (6.7 liter Cummins Diesel), weighing around 31,000 lbs, including the half-ton Ram that I tow behind it. I think that is fantastic, considering the Ram only gets around 13.5 "driving itself."

    We tow a Ford C-Max but you're definitely not fitting three car seats in there. Look for a slightly older GMC Acadia, around 2016 or so - they have three rows and can be flat towed easily. Google "dinghy towing guide" for Motorhome Magazine's awesome year-by-year guides of towable vehicles to help your search.

    The V10 isn’t known for good gas mileage. If you wanted better mileage you should have purchased a diesel coach. I have a Tiffin 32SA Gasser, if I was full time I’d have bought a good used Tiffin Diesel coach.

  • @Five2Go

    @Five2Go

    3 жыл бұрын

    We went with a gas coach because of the upfront cost for this age motorhome. You'd never save as much in mpg cost difference to make up for the price difference of gas vs diesel unless you went with a diesel rig 10 years older.

  • @r.hooper2355

    @r.hooper2355

    It’s all about choices. Matt’s RV Reviews has excellent video about gas vs diesel and my take away is diesel is about $100,000 more than comparable gas coach of same year. Yearly maintenance is about half for a gas coach than diesel and there are way more mechanics to work on gas vs diesel. Driving/riding in diesel Motorhome is very nice and quiet even in the 17 yr old diesel coach we rented last year when we trekked NC to/from WA about 7k miles over a month time. While diesel coaches are great I don’t think their benefits are worth that premium cost.

    You'll pay 50-100% more for the RV and more per gallon on fuel for about a 2-3mpg increase. Diesels are great for towing capacity and larger floorplans but they're not a way to save money at the pump 😉
