Motorhome Battery Upgrade

Today we have fitted an extra leisure battery to our ford Benimar Motorhome. We have done this because we spend a lot of time off grid in the Motorhome, and in the future we are going to fit an inverter so we can use a hairdryer for the wife and daughters.

Good video we have a Tessoro 486 was looking at adding an extra battery but when I looked under the seat found it came with two as standard. Re you drop down bed if you use silicone spray on the runners it will stop the squeak also swap the 20amp fuse for a 25 amp it blows because it supply's all the 12v to one side of the van.

Great video, we do a lot of off grid in the UK, we have two leisure batteries with a 100 watt solar panel and so far we haven't struggled.....Yvonne & Kev

Very useful thanks. I'm about to do the same on our 2019 463. I didn't spot a second loom under the seat when having a quick look with the seat on. Was yours just sitting under the seat?

Hi I wonder if you can help me? I have a 483 just added a second leisure battery, moving the plug around around a red wire and a green and black. Just wandering if you have any idea where to reconnect. Thanks

Hi the wiring was already there the + are linked so are the - so to keep it 12v setup if you run the 2 batterys in series it will be 24v not all systems can run on 24v. Hope that helps 👍

We’re you able to buy a second plastic box/bund for the additional battery? I’m about to add a second battery to my T413 but am finding it difficult to get hold of a box/tray.

Hi I used a battery bag from a local caravan shop. I have just upgraded again to lithium batterys and 30amp b2b fitted under the drivers seat I would recommend fitting a b2b. Hope that helps

Thanks forthe video. I was thinking for replacing the leisure battery myself. I wonder how you want to charge those batteries? Repalcing with lithium requires the charging system to be adapted, i read. How did you manage that?

Hello, I've really enjoyed watching your videos, thank you for sharing. I've been looking at either the Benimar 413 or Chausson 720, automatics with bunk beds! The Benimar is shorter and while the garage is sacrificed a bit, I'm thinking it might be worth the easier driving and parking. Did you manage to get more for yours than you bought it for? You mentioned on your very thorough tour that it was 51k new (did you get yours in 2018?). I've been looking at a 2021 model which is 58k and the new price is now 75k! There's inflation for you! How is the boat going? Cheers!

Hello, we got roughly what we paid for the motorhome. It was a 2019 when we brought it from new. I believe it is currently for sale on Benimar Facebook group. The boat is going well but we missed having a motorhome so much so we have now got another motorhome so I might do a update video 🤔

Nice video! Im no expert but thought you had to by 2 batteries at same time rather then putting a new one with a used one? Thought if u put new one with old one he makes the new one only as good as orginal

Hi as far as I'm away because the way I've link them up it doesn't make any difference and my old battery is only 1 year old, giving I don't know the manufacturing dates of either battery I'm not too worried thanks for your comment👍
