Motorcycle Riders Share More Than Just The Road - Triumph Bonneville T120 Journey

As motorcyclists, we share a common bond that runs much deeper than we might think. Join me on my 2017 Triumph Bonneville T120 Black as I explore the Mount Saint Helens area in Washington and talk about the things that unite us as riders.

    I mostly ride alone, I also work alone and live alone due to being widowed young, when I jump on my bike (ADV bike) I feel part of the world again, the waves from other riders, the random conversations with complete strangers, the envious looks when I stop somewhere with me and the bike covered in mud after some adventure. People treat you different when you're on a bike and it's easy to feel a common bond. It's 4 years since I lost my Mrs to cancer, bought the bike shortly after to get my mind off the grief , I credit the bike and the community for saving my sanity, I think I would have fallen into depression without it. I always carry a photo of her in my pocket so it's like riding together.

    I'm sorry to hear about your Mrs. You're so right. People treat you different when you're on a bike. And what's more, people treat you different depending on what gear you happen to be wearing that day. It's the strangest thing, but I quite enjoy it. I get different reactions if I'm wearing my leather jacket, as opposed to my ADV jacket, as opposed to my black jacket... This is gonna sound ODD. But I usually carry my helmet into a store with me, not because I'm trying to look cool or anything, but to provide context as to why I'm dressed the way I am. I don't actually care what people think, at all, but I do feel a bit out of place if I walk in to a store wearing a fully padded-up jacket with an airbag under it, and I'm not holding a helmet. I think I need professional help. :) Thanks for your story. Kinda choked up a bit thinking about you carrying her photo in your pocket when you ride. That's beautiful.

    Silverdale... if you haven't done so already, be sure to read "Ghost Rider" by Neil Peart (the drummer for RUSH). It resonated with me after the dark years of covid and I didn't lose any family members (just saw a lot of other family's losses). I think you would have an appreciation for the journey he and you have traveled. Keep riding and maybe we'll meet on the side of the road one day. Pyrat

    @@williammahaffy4642 Many of us in same boat. Love seeing comments. I live alone, no family I retired about same time covid hit. all my plans changed. Mom Died, friends moved, friends divided. Wrecked harley 2001 shattered arms an leg. 2 months ago said screw it. Got an Adv bike started riding again. Terrifed but ride.. getting better. Healing I dont know but it occupies my brain, focused on now. Work on bike, take it out, fiddle. Short rides. I have horses to but my "In the now is so much more on a bike" Glad I started back. In a world where youtubers are obsessed or forced to concentrate on first 30 seconds retention, screaming down the camera and all just Mr Beast cookie cutter channels, what a breath of fresh air this channel is. You deserve to grow big. Subbed and looking forward to how this channel developes from here.

    Thanks, I really appreciate that. I hope this channel grows too, because I enjoy the heck out of making this kind of calm content. Which is funny because my scooter channel isn't what I'd describe as 'calm,' but it's at least emotionally honest, like this channel hopes to be. I think I've only seen one Mr. Beast video. Good for him, but I want nothing to do with that world...

    I came across a young learner rider who'd ran out of gas ⛽️ He was parked at the side of a busy country road with he's back to traffic, on he's phone 📱 looking for help. I wasn't on my bike, l was in my VW TRANSPORTER Van with my son ,so l pulled over with Hazard lights Flashing. I told him to move he's bike off the road and reminded him he was that this road is a 60mph. I had a can of fuel ⛽️ filled he's bike 🏍 and had a polite chat about how dangerous it was to sit on the side of a busy road here in Ireland 🇮🇪 with trucks and cars speeding past only feet away. I told him how important it was to check everything on he's bike beforehand. He got away safely and when l returned to my van my 29 year old non biker so said how cool it was for me to do that. I told my son I'm a biker and he's a biker, We Are Bikers.

I buy into the therapist notion but I feel my Rebel as a friend, a very good friend who I always enjoy meeting up with but my Rebel is more like a "father confessor" for me, for I'm never more honest with myself than when I'm on my bike. I've a trip planned for next month and already I'm in the zone.

    "Triumph In The Sticks." (Just kidding...kidding both you and Steve.) I rode my GTS 60 miles yesterday...simply to meet some folks for lunch! Everything you said in this video I have found to be true as well. BTW -- you're a helluva writer. Many times, things written for the page do not read well aloud, and things written to be read aloud can suck on the page. I'm betting you're narration would read just as good on the page as it sounds in your vids. Carry on, Captain Spalding.

  • @BugMotoChannel

    @BugMotoChannel

    3 ай бұрын

    Yes. I recommend it very much. It's a Shoei RF-1400. This is one area where you don't want to save money! Get the absolute best you can afford. If I were to buy a new helmet tomorrow, I'd look at the Shoei Neotec 3. It's modular, so the whole front flips up so you can have a drink or water, or a snack, or whatever and not have to take your helmet off. It's more expensive than mine, so might not be worth it. Either way, I've just found Shoei stuff to be high quality and a good fit.
