    And here I am thinking my chain will fly off if I don't maintain it on a weekly basis 🤣

  • @miniwarrior7

    @miniwarrior7

    It will. You'll get tight links and when the tight links hit the sprocket the tension can break the chain and the chain can destroy the clutch cover

    @@miniwarrior7 big difference between people maintaining it and dumping chain lube on it though, clean it with wd40 and a rag n then put plenty of chain lube on it, then wipe off the excess along the entire chain n your set

    Do not clean your chain with wd40 unless its wd40 silicone as it will break down the o rings causing unreliable chain

    @@EzioBellic2KOOL There’s literally a video online bro of a guy leaving the O rings in a test tube of WD40 for days on end and they were perfectly fine. WD40 ruining O rings is a myth

    @Hellothere-xc5ph it will take a lot longer than "days on end" to break down the seal. More like it is the difference in a chain lasting 2years vs 5+ yrs.

    They're fckin expensive. I use kerosene every 500 km to remove excess grease, oil and dirts. After that just wash with detergent/dishwashing lubricate it after and it's done.

    You don't want to let those o-rings run totally dry on lube especially if you're running a small front sprocket That sharp bend creates a high torsional force on those o-rings they get pulled deformed and worn same with underneath your rollers If they run dry they will wallow out get all sloppy and causes excessive rattle noise That wax is not a lube it Okay to help keep the rust at bay But I certainly don't use it I use high pressure copper anti-seize applied with my favorite toothbrush to work it down under the rollers handsome loom guard cat's eye diff friction modifier to wipe the o-rings with unless it's extremely dusty then I go with Teflon sprays something with a little PTFE

    Why would you lube your chain? Thats just going to let dirt stick to it easier.

  • @IanMacLeansnv
    @IanMacLeansnvАй бұрын

    This is idiotic. Which is a first for this channel. It's about temperature and time. If you're on the freeway crossing a desert, the chain is going to cook enough to burn off its lubrication. Probably also true for a track day. The chain wants enough lube so that if the inside gets dry surface tension will pull more lube into the inside. So you need to be aware, and develop a sense of when it needs more lube and to be cleaned. And that can happen in a day.
