Cicadas sleep at night, so I usually ignore them on camping trips. I love the slider shots, man. Great stuff! On that tent, to get the vents open you could probably just run the line up to the top of that pole to get them open, stake them out if you expect rain. It's great that you have things set up for your Patrons, kudos to you for thinking of them. Another fun video, thanks for sharing, and the awesome vacay pics on IG B-) I'd be happy to meet up and chat about motocamping with you, I say go for it with the podcast/vlogcast!

Great video. I love the Payson and Rim country. I prefer the pines up on the rim. I like to stay some what close to the lakes or rivers. Mostly because I like to take my fishing pole and a small camp chair or sitting pad. Keep up the great work!

Have you done the 300 rim rode from highway 87 to highway 260. That's a nice ride. It basically follows the rim edge. You could get some great pics. There are a few small lakes back there as well Bear Lake, Knoll Lake and on the 260 side you have Woods Canyon which has a store so you can pick up ice, beer and canned foods. WillowSprings lake is about 3 miles from Woods Canyon on 260. On the 260 you can take Fire Road 512 which turns into young Highway and will take you all the way to Globe. On FR 512 you can get to Canyon creek. There is Tanto and Christopher creek. Tanto has a fish hatchery and I think Zane Grey's cabin might be there too. Christopher has a steak restaurant and bar and you can rent a cabin. All these places have camp sites and do get busy during the summer but once all the kids get back to school it's so much nicer. In the fall and winter you have your hunters. You have so many options when your in Payson. Payson is still to hot in the summer. Make the climb up the rim and you'll have like a 30 degree difference in temp. This is just a taste of what's there. You still have highway 87 that takes by the east Verde river and the natural bridge. You can take ClintsWell turn off which puts you on Lake Mary road and this takes you by another 4 or 5 lakes. This rode takes you into Flagstaff and puts you on I17. We just got back from a week long camping trip with the family. We like to go to Big Lake and the east fork Black river. Not as many people and the weather is much nicer. It was low 40s in the morning and mid80s during the day.

Hah, that was pretty funny. I believe those are cicadas and that's their mating call. They usually stop after the monsoons. On a side note, good to hear you don't make public the location of any nice camp spots. It's good for people to see what's out there, but the people that deserve to camp in nice remote spots are the people who put forth some effort. And usually those are the kinds of people that will respect the site and follow fire restrictions. I'm pretty sure I know where you are camping, after seeing you cross the creek and climb the hill with the gate. You didn't have to be so brutal on yourself, that's some rough harsh terrain during the summer it was probably in the 90's. The time you spent driving down from Payson you could have gotten to 7000+ feet up on the Rim from 260 or 87 past Strawberry. I been getting intimate with the area lately and documenting it. If you're unfamiliar with what the terrain up there has to offer, check out some of my latest videos you might be surprised. I was and I lived here all my life. The temps around 7000 are 80's day 50's night. Let me know if you'd like a point in the right direction. And nothing wrong with choosing to go there btw, that's a beautiful area. That creek has good fishing too, from what I hear.
