I'm thinking about doing a MML. The previous owner of my LJ installed a 4" Superlift lift kit and did a transfer case drop. Even with the longer rear driveshaft, I'm not sure the MML will be enough to fully eliminate the transfer case drop. The other two options I'm considering are a SYE/CV or going down to 3" springs + 1" BL. Neither as budget friendly as a MML, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

Have you tried running it without the transfer case drop yourself? Or trying to decrease the amount of drop? My rule of thumb is "trust nothing the previous owner has done or said about the vehicle" lol. Although the tcase drop is more than likely needed, there is a chance the PO installed it without checking to see if it was needed first. If you haven't I'd try that first just to make sure there is actually a problem you need to solve. If you decide to go with a SYE, keep an eye on craigslist or Facebook marketplace for a tcase with SYE already installed...I often see them for sale in the $200 range where I live. Additionally Ill throw another option into the mix, I haven't used it but have heard good things about it: undercoverfab.com/body-and-power-train-mounting/48-ucf-lopro-97-02-tj-trans-mount.html

@@dironaa I haven't gotten around to testing it without the transfer case drop, but I might try to do it soon. The previous owner also installed a dropped pitman arm, so they likely didn't know what parts were necessary and just opted to install everything that came with the lift kit. Thanks for the info. That's the first time I've come across the UCF mount. Adding it to the list of options 😁

I made mine exactly the same way a long time ago. I believe the 1” plate of aluminum I used was between $12 and $15.

Cool! That's on the low end of the price range I was finding for the aluminum alone, plus the cost of hardware.

Thanks for watching! Still have the FJ and it will probably show up from time to time but I’m pretty happy with it as is so any work I do on it from now on will probably just be maintenance. Maybe I’ll try to film a trail ride with it at some point!

This wrangler screams for New paint, like if you want to see a New paint job🤘🏻

Yes I do! Still in winter storage as we still have salt on the roads where I live. Should have it back on the road for the season after a few more good rain storms clean the streets.

Motorcraft oil filter?

Use the Motorcraft FL1A every oil change. Extra capacity and they're dirt cheap at Walmart.
