I must say I do like the design. It's definitely a great looking engine that I could just stare at and take in all the details. It's a piece of artwork in itself and I appreciate the work that went into it's design. I would love to ride it because I'm curious about the power delivery with it being shaft driven and all.

I got a Mandello S at end of the December 2022. Its taken me 3000 miles to just get my head round how good those brakes are. A BMW riding friend on a R1250 RS SE couldnt believe just how hard he had to work to keep up with the Mandello. As to the quick shifter I dont bother using it from 1-2-3 and back down (its a bit like the one on the R1250RS SE). Im 5ft6 and the standard seat if fine but a bit of stretch to get one foot flat on the ground. Ive got the lower comfort seat fitted and it great. So far longest not stop ride is 3 hours (I had to stop for petrol) and no butt pain. The little flaps work great at keep rain of top of legs ( 3 months riding in the shitty rainy weather we have had in the UK proves confirms that)

As another Mandello S owner from the U.K. ( and it’s crap weather ) I would struggle to find fault with what has been said by Rumbling.

I’ve owned bunch of Guzzis, and just took delivery of my v100z Their history is awesome, their character is famous. Their quirkiness is why we love them. But i think the Aprilia influence is clear here. I got sick of being a human sail on ADV style sport bikes. As an old guy, i’m happy to see the sport touring segment making a small come back. Match made in heaven.

How is the Guzzi long term 3+ years reliability? And after sales service? Had an Aprilia, but the after sales was rubbish so instead of upgrading to a Tuono I went down the MT10 path. 40000kms (all touring, no commuting), and 5years later no regrets. Will consider an upgrade at 55 to 58 thousand kilometres. These Italian manufacturers know how to style a bike and this Mandello has peeked my interest.

People still underestimate the know-how behind the might of Piaggio-Aprilia-Guzzi. We are talking some of the greatest Italian brands with insane history and production. This bike looks amazing.

LOVE my MG V7 850. Oozes character and smile. You know you are riding a motorcycle.

Love today's video Jake. Love how effusive you get on this bike. Love the Zack Courts Giggle Factor shout out. Videos like this remind me of how great these 17 inch classic sport tourers can be!

I thought hard about getting one of these. In the end I decided to wait a few years for the bugs (if any) to be worked out. I did get a smokin' deal on a new, leftover V85TT. It's not in the same league performance wise, but it is neat in its own way.

V85tt is my next bike, currently on an NC700x. The alt-adventure bikes are where it’s at

I agree and I'm a hard core ADV guy. I would never consider a bike like this but I can't help and find it sexy. It's amazing and has turned my eyes. It's full on. I want it in my life.

There’s a lot to like about the new Mandello. Hoping the all new ADV Stelvio will hit EICMA on show this year. That will be one to talk about also.

More than 30 years ago, Yamaha introduced this style of motorcycle with the TDM model, which was quite misunderstood at the time. Now you can see that TDM was ahead of its time. Put some new technology and voila. Anyway, moto-guzzi made a spectacular motorcycle, Bravo.

I've had my eye on this bike since it was announced. I think it's a work of art. Great review, and pumped to see your channel doing so well. You deserve it!

Bruh, he thinks shafts have less loss than chains, lol, maybe try getting your advice from someone who understands the basics, not some children who got upset when someone else failed to sacrifice his dreams to take care of their daddy issues.

I just tested it yesterday. It reminds me alot of my vfr800. Supersmooth like a Honda with a bit of character. Not Viby. Feels like a Japanese bike more then Italian. Engine feels strong for 115hp. Very compact and small bike compared to my current 1000sx. Girls and people with shorter statue will love it's ergonomics.

I have put a few hundred miles on my Mandello s and I love the bike. While the quick shifter is not perfect, so far it has worked really well. The way I ride my other bikes I never use the auto blipper to down shift from 2nd to 1st. With the amount of torque this bike produces, when going into slower corners I just leave it in 2nd and it pulls no problem. I am 6'1" and I find the bike a little cramped, I have the high seat on order, with about 3/4 of an inch increase in seat height I think this will solve the comfort issue. I am extremely satisfied with this bike, no regrets about the purchase. Now to get through the 900 mile break in period, such a pain!

I really like this bike as well. Aesthetic wise and in overall too. Looks slick!

We purchased the first one Bkackmans Cycle got in. We love it. My girl rides that, we also have a Multistrada 1200. Nice for long weekends away!

Yeah man dig into the manual. Quick shifter only works from 2nd up. 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st require clutch. If you ever notice the orange quick shifter light in the bottom right corner of the screen that’s to warn you you’re in 1st or 2nd.

The technical side of things might be boring, but it is correct, shafts lose ~25% of the power, while chains bleed

Great review! I love the look of this bike. It sorta kinda has similar lines of one of my first motorcycles, a 93 yamaha seca2. I've been interested in Guzzis for long time, but the closest dealer is 5 hours away.

They have them already, but it has less HP and Tourque than the 850 in the V85tt.

Bro I am happy when my V7 upshifts from 1st to 2nd at all :D It is just a Guzzi doing Guzzi things, can't run away from it.

Thank you, I bought a V85TT Adventure, the final drive being a drive shaft and also the only motorcycle in its class with a shaft drive , with its price point coming outfitted with Panniers already it was a No-Brainer for Me. Then there’s the driving modes that put this bike at another level within its class. I already have four other motorcycles and plan on Building a HD Sportster Scrambler soon. Great Review.

It is a great bike, I test rode it a few weeks ago and I have an S on order in Verde. It is supposed to arrive in early May. I've been riding BMW's for my last three bikes and my current 2019 R1250RT I'll be trading in on this bike. I loved the performance, handling and quality of this bike. I agree, seating position is a bit cramped and I'm not tall nor do I have long legs. To combat this I also ordered the tall seat which is 2CM's taller than the stock seat hoping that will improve space for me. Another reason I was looking at some new bikes is the cost of maintenance on BMW bikes, it has sky rocketed in the last year. Small service which is an oil and filter change and inspections is now at $460 and the major service which includes valve timing is at $1060. I pay less for my E450 MB wagon services than either of those for my BMW bike. I asked the MG dealer how much the services were for the V100 and I was happy to hear $425 for the small service and a much lower $605 for the large service, including valve timing so it will be cheaper than my BMW to maintain. I can't wait to get mine!

Seems really stable and smooth and planted on the highway for sure. Of course I'm not the one riding It but you can somewhat tell from the video footage.

Today I test road the same v100 you did at AF1. The quick shifter is fully broken in and was amazing up and down all gears.

Your comment on the brakes is right on the mark. I have a V7lll and had an Audace. The brakes on both of those are excellent. Far better than the Harleys I have owned but that isn't saying much but stronger than my '22 T120 Triumph. I will be looking at one of these when one shows up at my dealer but I don't think I will be buying any more bikes. If I were 10 years younger there would be one coming home with me.

Love my Norge GT 8V, haven't had the good fortune to ride the Mandello, but imagine it's even better. With only a 30" inseam, I don't feel cramped but taller riders can adapt lowering foot pegs, albeit with some loss of ground clearance when leaned. In all, gotta love a Guzzi, loads of character!😁👍

Hey!. You mentioned the Ural~! Good work! I'd love to see a segment on one though. I know they have a lot of short-falls, especially with that side-car, but the side-car is why I actually bought one, brand new.

Still waiting for the first ones into New Zealand. a mate has one on order, supposed to be here late May, can't wait to see one in the flesh!!!! 😎

I've been riding V Stroms for the last 20 yrs. or so and once you get the fueling sorted, they can be sublime. But I would really love to check one of these gutzis out.

Glad to see that power plant is good. I’m expecting this block in the new Moto Guzzi adv bikes. They basically had to make a water cooled power plant to meet emissions… thankfully it seems they did it right.

LOVE IT. It looks like nothing else! Between the V85 and the V100 I'm set for life.

I love sports tourers, i had a vfr and an r1100rs but the days that you can ride them fast in the UK are long gone.😢

The quickshifter sounds typical of those found on big twins. I had exactly the same with the BMWs.

Yup, same here. On my R1200 GS (2016) I basically gave up using it between first and second gear. Both up and down. It just really didn’t want to change between those gears.

It's a good looking bike. Since the first teaser photos last year, I was really digging the looks. I saw it in person and it's a dam good looking bike. For the top end money, I honestly think I would go for the 1250RS or this one if I were in the market for a sport tourer. Agree with the Pan America being a great thing for HD. I have a Tiger 1200 Alpine edition and it's great, except for the stupid key fob that doesn't work as intended. I ride it anywhere I want and it's super comfortable.

I love Guzzis! I wish you could get a hold of a MGX-21 Flying fortress to review I think you would love it!

Been riding Guzzi's forever. Yes, the transmissions/clutch do wear in around 5000 miles. I was always having issues with shifting between 1st and 2nd, and finding neutral on all my Guzzi's. Around 3000 miles they start breaking in, amd are worn into the rider by 5000 miles.

That's clutch adjustment. It only wears if it is slipping but it must fully disengage to find neutral. There's a little cable return spring that confuses the matter of the free play. It can be got right and it can be made light. This one has a hydraulic clutch that should solve the matter.

To be fair many quick shifters on various bikes struggle with the 1st to 2nd shift up or down.

Nice, interesting & balanced review. I really like this bike but I would definitely go for the base model. The additionally cost for the extra features isn't worth it to me personally. I'm just not really interested in tech like the semi-active suspension & a shaft drive v-twin engine just doesn't suit a QS either imo. Not surprised at all it isn't working properly.

V100 is a bike for spirited mile munching from a time before tourers became either a sail barge or an oversized Dakar bike. Sounds odd, but the closest comparison bike I think of is the ‘90s VFR750. Not designed for the track, off road or living room alternative. Because of that it does everything on the road and street brilliantly. Forza Guzzi - that engine is a massive step and will keep the marque relevant for plenty time to come.

Its a thing of beauty!I would like to have one but will probably go with a FJR 1300.Gotta have a shaft on whatever bike i buy.

Greetings from the UK. Great honest review. I've got a Tracer 9GT and would have considered this if it had been available last year. Maybe you ought to try some British weather because reviewers over here have said the you can definitely tell the difference when the active aero is deployed! I think I need a test ride on one of these although luggage is extra and there are no heated grips as standard.

On the right tyres Guzzi are glued to wet english roads. You don't need no heated grips with sheepskin gloves. A size too big to trap air and a cooler spare pair.

I’m a really short OG that has been riding since the 70’s that puts big miles on. This was built for me.

I rode a V100 with a passenger, big enough, roomy for two, powerful enough engine, it was really great to drive. Two things bothered me, the turning circle that caused me to almost fall off twice and the insufficiently fixed front movable windscreen. Otherwise, a beautiful and well-made motorcycle that turns heads :) (my video is still in working)

That`s a good example of a bike you should never ever drop because its gonna really hurt in your pocket😄.

Gr8 review. Well rounded. Regarding the rider position - I reckon you feel so owing to your height (taller person). Perhaps the raised seat will do the job for you. I am 5'8 and test rode this bike yesterday. Position wise, it was perfect and comfy, especially compared to other sports tourers like the VFR1200F ZZR1400. I think I will end up agreering with you on the seat hardness w.r.t a long day in the saddle :)

I’m excited to see if MG has plans on putting this engine in their adv bike? Surely that’s in the works.

excellent review of this bike, one that I am super interested in. You seem quite tall like myself and not having sat on this bike yet, I found your comments about the rider triangle being quite tight confirming the one thing I was afraid of when I saw this bike, namely might it be uncomfortable in that regard. I have sat on the V85 and found that to be a very comfortable position. With this bike I know I would pick the higher seat option and hope that that is enough.

Its a privilege and eye opener and almost a Zen like religeous experience to ride a Guzzi down to the factory at Lake Como...

“Who is the target audience for this bike?” Me Me Me Me Me!!! Just look at my primary bike. A Speed Twin 1200. Brutal machine mainly for one person. British, low slung, high finish, pedigree… and it Always make me smile with its looks and Sound. The V100 Mandello gives that feeling of a well engineered bike with high finish and it’s not an ADV but Still the V100 is for two people riding comfortably for longer journeys on tarmac. A quirky but Wonderful engine, Italian, wonderful sound and pedigree… Alas… the V100 is a bike that will keep me smiling even though the misses is riding pillion…

Good review Spite, I think it’s a great bike … on the pegs in Europe you have all sorts of really twisty roads where lean angle is good, we ride way less freeway, so lowering pegs is not desirable.. this is a classic sport tourer not an ADV and more sporty and aimed at the BMW R1250RS 🤔 I don’t see the freeway as its natural habitat. The base model has the best colour scheme too: classic Le Mans red and gold wheels 😎 The Gentleman’s Tuono GT for the older more discerning sport touring rider, Jon, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Great review! I think this bike is a rare one and hopefully it will bring back the sport touring models again that has been replaced with adventure bikes. This bike is nearly as beautiful as the Ducati 916 which was a stunning bike. Is this bike as beautiful in person as it is on the videos? Also, I am curious about your height in that if you are over 6 ft tall it might be uncomfortable and as you pointed out the need to get the taller seat. I am curious about the maintenance intervals, how frequent? My concern is that the dealers are not close to me (1 might be 30 miles away) but it is in a place which has a lot of traffic and I do not see it as safe to travel and the other shops are about 72 miles away. I think I would go for the higher specs because of the Ohlins suspension that is one thing I do not like to cheap out on. BTW would you take this over the BMW R 1250 RS model which I think is a competitor. Thanks

@@greg9076 no and no. Usually it takes 2 years for best options to materialize. Competition werkes said they want to see volume of sales go up to tackle project. Im waiting for 2024 colors and options to come out but pretty sure no changes except that 2023 models will get cheaper to move bikes. Lol

I agree 100% with the 80% well executed and 20% kooky Italian way of designing or building (not bad, not wrong, just weird). Where I am in Canada, the dealers for Moto Guzzi are few and far between, with parts being hard to get, with long delays on shipped parts. For me that is make or break not being able to take it in and get it fixed, and instead having it off the road for months in prime riding weather due to backorders.

Thought it was the other way around. Less power loss with a chain than a shaft drive. I ride a FJR and my understanding was that chain drive was lighter and more powerful.

From other reviewers , the aero is to keep the wind off your thighs and is noticeable in the cold. In warmer weather/climates its just a cool party trick 😄

It's a handsome looking bike, but I can't get over the handlebar mounts. The parallax in the POV video between the top plate & the triple clamps was mesmerizing. It's as if Moto Guzzi looked at all the handlebar extensions on the market & said "hold my beer". It looks like installing anything but a flat bar on it would be like putting ape hangers on a MT09.

Keep up the good work! You’re more likable than your past employer and I prefer your format.

Here in lil' ol' England you can get a touring screen for £98 from a company called Powerbronze. Lots of colour choices too.

I'm really looking forward to the new Moto Guzzi adventure bike featuring that engine. I've had a Moto Guzzi before I like the bike but there was some issues. If they had a designated dealer Network in North America I'll be riding it hands down.

See if they can hook you up with a M109. +3" seat and +3" forwards it's perfect for the big guy. If I get one it'll have nitrous and a trailer hitch for a glamper.

Very cool bike and you’re right about shaft drives being low maintenance but you’re completely wrong about them putting more power to the wheel, chains do that.

Im wondering if that protruding engine block heats your leg like crazy after hours of riding?

Re the quickshifter, on my MV I never use mine going to or from first. First is a big gear that needs a little modulation…

I wish more reviewers would cover features like cornering lights in more detail

My motto guzzi needed about 1500 miles to loosen up a bit. It was hard to neutral for quite awhile

Imagine it with a flat seat so you can sit halfway into the passenger space. That's the story of my life. The Pan Am seat would be almost as complex as the V Max seat to make work.

I driven for 1200 km in Europe in cold temperature , the flaps really make difference above 60 km / h ( like 35 mph ) when the ambient temperature is low , in summer , you can not feel the difference ... make sense even more , if it rains !

I own two Moto Guzzis (V85TT and 2004 V11) and have owned an Aprilia Caponord 1200 so I think I can say that you are riding Italian genius! The tech is virtually the same as the Caponord 1200, which is seriously undervalued and overlooked. I also own a BMW R1200GS, and the Caponord is a quicker handling bike. The V100 is benefiting from Aprilia’s genius and a century of MG experience and performance.

The word you want is longitudinal. It is a longitudinal mounted VTwin. A BMW boxer is an opposed engine. A Subaru has an opposed engine. A Porsche has an opposed engine, the Guzzi had a longitudinal mounted VTwin. Longitudinal (I know Porsche, Subaru, etc have other configurations, don't at me about that spit)

I really like the versys 650. Yeah its a cheap entry level adv bike but it'll do everything my DRZsm will do minus tight single track and it can take the highway better than my drz
