Moto Camping Trip: Motocamping Solo, Hike to Waterfall, Campfire Making, Cooking Steak Over the Fire

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My first moto camping trip of the summer took me to Alsea Falls near Alsea, Oregon. Motocamping solo is always a good time, and I really enjoyed this motocamping trip. This full-length motorcycle adventure video features the entire trip, including motocamping packing, riding to the campground, finding a spot, motocamping setup, hiking to a waterfall, acquiring firewood, building a campfire, cooking steaks over the campfire, lounging around the fire enjoying a bourbon and cigar, campfire conversation about some Honda CRF250L electrical issues, tearing down the campsite in the morning and packing everything on the motorcycle, and the journey home.
This is my first attempt at a full motorcycle camping video, and I hope you enjoy it. I'm still learning, and it's clear that I need to upgrade some of my gear to deal with audio issues and work on my shot framing, but all in all I think this motorcycle camping on my Versys 650 video turned out really well and I hope you agree.

Disconnect the negative terminal, then Put a test light between the negative terminal of battery and the negative terminal lead and see if the light on the test light lights up. If it does then you have a short somewhere. It's a start atleast. Then pull fuse by fuse until the light goes out and u will find the culprit. It's best to do it in low light because it might be a very faint glow. Best of luck my friend and great job on the videos, I'm trying to do the same this year, I live in new england and the winter is making my patience wear thin, I cant wait to motocamp!

Cotton balls or dryer lint mixed with Vaseline makes an excellent fire starter, you can even use a metal match to start it if you want to go old school. Oh, if you're wanting a moto-camping buddy sometime keep me in mind... once I can replace my clutch cable in my Ulysses I'll be down for shenanigans after work. As for areas to camp, look around Hawk Mountain... it's along the Brietenbush Road near the Marion/Clackamas border. There's an old wildfire look out station you can hike to that has awesome views...

Good video and format, thanks! No clue about your battery drain, but just a random thought... I always carry a portable jump starter w me on any trip over 100 miles or so (never know). I picked up a Schumacher 800-Amp Li-Ion from WalMart for like 75 bucks. You can also charge phone, ipad, gopro, etc right off it. It has a very small set of cables included, is quite durable, and holds a charge well. It's "supposed" to be able to jump start a car, but I've never tried it. Anyways, it's light, pretty small (just toss it in my tank bag), and not horribly expensive. Just thought I'd mention it if you haven't used such a product. Another great vid, thanks again! A big potato wrapped in a couple layers of foil is great on a campfire, and the salt and pepper packets from fast food places are great kit to toss in a ziplock and shove in your bag...along w a packet or two of chinese take-out soy sauce if you're into that kind of thing (I love a little on my steaks). And as for bourbon while camping? Fuck it...bring the bottle lol! (Cuz ya know, solo camping in the woods is EXACTLY the place you want to hear screaming kids while you're trying to relax!) @@DorkintheRoad you are welcome. Can't help with the electrical issue on the crf. I am very weak with electrical systems. Let's hope it's just a bunk battery. If you haven't, I would highly recommend adding pre-load to the rear spring. I'm about 200lbs and just added 3ish turns to mine. I noticed after 600 miles and some rough trail riding it was sagging bad. The extra pre-load took most of the pogo out on the road and really helped stiffen it up.
