yeah, videos like that are made to reach as many people as possible by not making specific statements to help specific problems, they just want to get as big as possible by giving you a short boost in motivation that makes you believe the talking head behind the screen. You should instead seek someone that knows you and your problems.

Yknow, the idea of positive speakers and support groups is literally broken down into this video- eating right, sleeping on time, and talking to people that matter. Not bad, but not too good either. Its just people dont have it that easy; their mentalities, emotional stability, situations and coping mechanisms; all to do basic things like living. This just makes me realize how complex the mind works- all the answers are right in front of us, simple “no-duh” obvious things. But no, its not that easy, and never will be for everyone. Makes you wonder how to help others too; they wont ask for help to be told something as generic as “do this; thats all, hope you feel better!”. A bundle of different things, with all of us trying to live in it. Tl;dr: Lovely video, lots to perceive and interpret :) my favorite kinds of uploads

@@D.H.1082 changing ur mindset & accepting change isn’t all to easy for some either. it’s a “in ur face” & nah duh thing too yet it’s not as simple. especially when dealing with suicidal thoughts, anxieties, very devastating mental disorders, traumas, eating disorders, addiction, situations. you can try & change ur outlook & try to accept change and there’s gonna feel like a boulder in ur way. overcoming isn’t as easy as u put it. the whole world & why these videos r lowkey bad for most is that it’s a “don’t like it change it” we’re sold that it’s a endless possibility, that what’s wrong with us is changeable & fixable. it’s a endless cycle with mental health these days. we think we’re getting better but it never does, truly. we’re told a lie of what life is supposed to b. so yea u can change ur mindset, but does it ever TRULY change? bc when situations change and mold u, it never ever really leaves. it could’ve changed, but i don’t think it leaves u.

@@D.H.1082 I do agree, but making that change takes a lot of effort for many. Things like sleeping on time and exercise changed my entire life, but I never thought they were important enough before to get into them, and I always let myself believe that these were things I would just "do later once I got the big things figured out". A big problem is not really that the advice is obvious, but more so the fact that, while most people know the advice, they don't actually listen to it, and listening to it takes a lot of work. It took me three separate attempts to get into working out every day( each separated by a month or two), and way longer to get sleeping right, and I am suited to this sort of thing. Its likely that someone in a more severe scenario would find it impossible, and not seeing results immediately would likely cause them to lose motivation. I think its similar to wise men in movies. They tell cryptic messages that help the heroes later, and we always think, "why didn't he just say so?", but the reality is that the message would be considered "obvious" by the hero, and disregarded, even when it is the most important thing to succeed. Most people wont believe you until they see it for themselves, but in order to see it for themselves they have to live that life long enough to reap the benefits, and that takes a kind of dedication and faith most depressed people don't have. Its a shame really, but maybe people like you and me can make a difference one day...

I'm such a fucking coward that I run from change, and as a result, I sit in my own waves of depression, just letting myself idle. I try to trick myself into thinking I don't need to find happiness. Telling myself that I'm not unhappy. That I am content. God, I'm sorry for saying otherwise.

Motivational speeches are for special people. "Quit your job and get a better one", "eat healthy and exercise" or "sleep early" are things you do when you *have* goals and dreams in your life *and* you think they *can* be reached. For us, zombies and robots, putting an effort makes no sense, and we just wanna have a good time and then go out with a bang when we think it's time. The problem is that we need money for this...

Talking about motivation, most people can’t tell the difference between depression and sadness, I see so many people talking about depression that it’s gotten in my head, It was just me being exhausted from school. People say “drink water, socialize, go outside” and things like that, no that doesn’t cure depression but it does help with sadness

I got this from the comments, so I’ll restate it in my own words. all motivational speeches are the same, they tell you to eat healthy, gets lots of sleep and so forth. But people keep watching many motivational speeches expecting that it’ll somehow change them the next day. When really it’s up to you in the end to change.

this kinda reminds me of when i was a kid on tumblr, the vast majority of my friends were super depressed and i was the ‘happy’ one, so i felt like i had to help them. i was 13 and didnt understand anything about mental health so i’d just copy what i saw other people saying & do what my friends said would make them happy, even if it was stuff i really didnt want to do. i was also pretty miserable but the identity crisis of being a good person or not for not wanting to help my friends all the time kinda made it worse! i kept telling them all this advice, but i never followed it myself. now the way i deal with emotions and venting is all fucked up, im afraid i’m going to become like my old friends & force my friends into things they don’t want to do

To me this isnt about motivational speakers being clueless or repeating information. This is about a motivational speaker who wants to help others but cant help themselves. Aka, they dont practice what they preach. Its ironic, because someone is telling you what to do without doing it themselves. Or maybe, they dont even realize the situation theyre in.

You kinda just have to find your own way to deal with the stress coming in. Everyone does it in different ways. This one's a stark contrast to most of Vewn's other videos. While there's still those meaningful details that hide in plain sight, this one just felt more empty somehow. But in itself, that's the most significant detail to hide in plain sight: there's nothing left to say. True emptiness is the meaningless pursuit of perpetual happiness which inevitably requires the rejection of one's own identity. No one is truly fulfilled by this, even the motivational speaker who's voice, appearance, and actions are brilliantly portrayed as empty, maybe even depressed.

Some just tried to convince me that I’m sad because instead of being outside and running around or idk going out to parties and getting high, I’m at a computer playing a game, I’m reading a book, or I’m just drawing. I’m not a social person, the outdoors are only fun when the weather isn’t terrible (the climate in my area is humid so it’s gross), and I get more joy being with people on the internet then I do seeing my irl friends. If you think about it. School’s main power is making you feel guilt. Whenever you do something bad there’s usually teachers that give you a whole talk about how you’re in trouble and trying to give you guilt. Depending on your grade, it can also give guilt too. Think about every single time you’ve been given guilt by your school. It’s crazy thinking about it. Nobody realizes that those are some of the reasons that people have depression and other stuff.

I have this friend irl. He born with all sort of deformities: dwarfism, missing one leg, missing one arm, and the other arm had no elbow or wrist, like he has a foot growing out of his shoulder. The algorithm was n o t kind to him. However, when down to brass knuckles, he is human, born with dreams of his best life. He became the manager of our local bank system. Over the decades, he worked out his back muscles to the point they turned to steel, which allowed him to golf, play pool, bowl, drive, hold his beverage, eat pizza, open door knobs, write, type, wave, etc. It’s seems like the only thing that mf can’t do is wipe himself 😂 And he’s the funniest dude I’ve known, so everyone’s willing to wipe for him. Point being: dude made reality is own bitch through sheer motivation and determination. No self-help, KZread, thought-leader bullshit. Hope this little tidbit of life helps somebody

I like how vewn criticizes the hypocrisy in the advice given to us by motivational speakers. They're just repeating the same things which hold no true value. Depression doesn't have an all-size-fits-all cure and these speakers know that. That's why a lot of them sell these "self-help" books. Vewn also criticizes the irony in some of the talks given by motivational speakers and how they try to deliver a cure for a repeating life through the way she has the character drink from a mug which reads "sleep is for idiots" and a book titled "living for work". (quite ironic, since they're meant to encourage others that life is worth living and is more than just about working). Anyways, those are just a few of my takes :)

I think this video also portrays how many people from a variety of lifestyles are all searching for the same thing- to feel happy. Somehow they all come across this particular motivational speaker, who is portrayed as young and inexperienced, her "wisdom" makes sense but is also too simplistic and doesn't really help anyone. The internet is flooded with young, inexperienced people wanting to be someone else's inspiration, motivation, to help others, but how can they have it figured out themselves? Yet they still get followers because there is just so many people searching for someone else to guide them.
