Motion Graphs: Transforming Position to Velocity to Acceleration vs Time
In this video I will show you how to convert the position vs time graph to the velocity vs time graph to the acceleration vs time graph. The slope of the line on the position vs time graph is equal to the velocity and the slope off the line on the velocity vs time graph is equal to the acceleration.

Why the curved p_t graph gives straight falling r rising line of v_t graph and it's not a curve?
@stepbystepscience
2 жыл бұрын
The pt graph is curved because it is accelerating and therefore has an increasing velocity. The vt is a straight line because the velocity is increasing at a constant rate. Does that help?
@chahsan190
2 жыл бұрын
@@stepbystepscience it's mean it VT graph would never a curve if pt is curve??

Sir, in 4:40 does by have a constant velocity so that it hasn't acceleration? 🙏
@stepbystepscience
8 ай бұрын
Yes, a horizontal line on the velocity vs time graph represents constant velocity and therefore no acceleration.
3:15 , sir, isn’t the horizontal line graph representing rest? Cos, the displacement doesn’t change with time, which means that the object isn’t moving rite?
@stepbystepscience

Yes, a horizontal line on the position vs time graph means the object is at rest.

The last example you state that the slope is INcreasing - WHY Increasing aand not decreasing?
@stepbystepscience
Ай бұрын
The slope is increasing because the curve is getting steeper over time. As I like to tell my students imagine standing at the top and then sliding down the curve. The curve gets steeper over time. Also the slope is negative. Does that help?
@williamcraighead
Ай бұрын
Thank you
3:50 , the graph line is parallel to time axis then slope should be zero , and the graph is position vs time then velocity will be zero , correct me please if im wrong
@stepbystepscience
2 ай бұрын
on the p v t graph, if the line is horizontal (slope is zero, parallel to the time axis) then the object is at rest, velocity = 0 and acceleration = 0. Does that help?
You lost me on the very last graph. How is that speeding up if the tangent line is headed down?

What if it increase and goes constant next plz don't jump my question
The idea showing the relationship among position velocity and acceleration is great. However to explain this with no reference to the actual movement of the car backing up, slowing or speeding up is like teaching to a parrot. Pls fix this and then it is excellent.

I watch your videos and I have subscribed too, but I am always very uncomfortable with your accent. You regularly do contractions and reductions and quite often your words sounds unfamiliar to me at first hearing. I listen it two or three times, only then I catch your words. Please speak bit slow and avoid reducing words. Pronounce them in full. Being Asian, I am unable to understand those reduced words you utter. Hope you understand my problem and ll cooperate.
