The entire human subplot was about how important and necessary it was to bring Mothra back, the civilization that survived because of her protection, their worshiping of her and her mystic nature - and then Mothra herself has less than two minutes of screentime. I really hope the next movie focusing more on the King of Monsters will let the Queen shine too.

Mothra is the definition of "Support" as she never really fought anyone directly but stayed in the background to deal with other issues.

She fought Rodan directly in King of the Monsters and won (though she was badly wounded). She also attacked Ghidorah directly, buying Godzilla time to catch a second wind.

@@alfisetya3629 She's durable but not strong physically, except for her God Rays that are strong enough to clear an unnatural heavy storm created by Ghidorah! Her wings are weak to fire, and that's where most of her power manifests itself, so she's more of a long range figher, but as we see with Rodan, she can still hold her own in hand to hand combat because of her mantis claws. I can geek about her all day kjhskj I love her so much, I'm so happy you liked her too

@@alfisetya3629 I mean she stood up to Rodan and he's way bigger than her. I think she takes after real-life insects in that she's way stronger and more durable than her (comparatively) small size would suggest.

Mothra is such an empathic soul it's impossible to hate her

From what I heard, Legendary wanted more Mothra, but Toho was extremely reluctant to let Legendary borrow her. It's also why in this movie we don't get to hear her classic theme song. Toho is very reluctant to share their roster of characters, which is why there are so many new Titans in the movies.

It’s surreal to finally see Mothra share a film with Kong. Like I never thought I’d see Kong meet Mothra in any movie. They almost met in “Ebirah Horror of The Deep” aka Godzilla vs The Sea Monster but was replaced by Godzilla instead. First Mechagodzilla now Mothra. Hopefully we can see Kong meet Rodan next!

Mothra deserves more screentime, and a more significant role in the MonsterVerse.

I love her sound design the most out of all the monsters. She sounds so cute.

Michael Dougherty's idea for a MV film that shows us the time the Titans roamed the Earth needs to be made. There are so many questions that could be answered in that film. For example: That film could show us how Godzilla & Mothra first became allies. That film could show us the time that Ghidorah first came to earth. That film could show us the battle that ended with Shimo freezing Ghidorah to cause the first ice age. And finally, that film could show us just how Anguirus' remains ended up in Godzilla's lair. It might break our hearts to see it, but if it goes the way I think it will, it will be an amazing tribute to Anguirus and his bravery. Mark my words, the reason why Anguirus' remains are in Godzilla's lair is because Anguirus sacrificed himself to save Godzilla and in doing so, Godzilla was able to defeat Ghidorah the first time Ghidorah came to earth & that's also when Shimo froze Ghidorah in ice. After the battle, Godzilla took Anguirus' remains to his lair and layed them there to honor his sacrifice. If they ever do this, if this is what happened to Anguirus in the Monsterverse, then "Goodbye Old Friend" from GKOTM should be playing as Godzilla is laying to rest his most trusted ally Anguirus to rest in his lair.

I think this Mothra is a bit "older" than the one in KOTM. I mean in KOTM Mothra was in her cacoon for a short time. But for this film, and I haven't seen the movie completely so I'm speculating, it seems she was in her cacoon for a VERY long time you know? And keep in mind in the newspaper clips in KOTM in the ending, it says they found another Mothra egg on the surface world. See what I'm trying to convey?

She does and I hate it. Those are peacock sounds and they crash horribly with her usual chirps based on whales and dolphins. It's a reused sound from the discarded Fosphera thing Wingard almost used instead of Mothra, and he for some reason thought they fit her.

I love that they literally point out that it absorbs any light but no fan has noticed yet 😭

Mothra now has to stay inside the hollow earth to guard and protect the Iwi and the portals. Which is a shame, because both require her undivided attention. She can't go see Godzilla in the surface and most likely won't let him enter the hollow earth because he is a keeper of balance, without him on earth, everything begins to spiral. A love so strong, yet it can never be directly shown
