So sweet… My baby girl does this at home on the pillow… It’s their mother instinct…🧡

Wow that’s amazing and she’s always so alert, and the babies know to go back in their den when they finish

Funny watching her cover the nest back up. It must be tight quarters under there with the soil packed in like that!

I suppose the soil are porous enough for the babies to breath underground with entrance covered up. What happens when it rains?

They float on their backs if it rains a lot so they can still breathe.

How do those rabbit babies breathe if the opening of the burrow/nest are filled up with earth by the rabbit mum after each meal?

They’ve adapted to breathe as there are still oxygen underground and they’re burrow animals

@@blng7597 very surprise the bunnies can survive in this manner.Basically there are a lot of predators around who will feed on these defenceless bunnies

The mother has to cone back in a soecific tine frame and open up the cave again so that they do not suffocate.

The babies go back to sleep after feeding. It's almost like a trance state. Low oxygen demands. They do just fine.

It weird that the Cotton Tails in America dig shallow holes(not sure how the babies survive)...in Europe they bury them or live in Warrens....

  • @blng7597

Baby Cotton tails can survive in the shallow depressions as long as they’re hidden and well fed. If rain, they’re adapted to point their head up in the air away from breathing the mud if mother isn’t around. The mother will also check up on her babies too after it rains and clean them

Look to be cottontail rabbits (not bunnies, I hate that word). Around 45% of baby cottontails die or are eaten by predators before they reach one month old. Only around 25% of them ever reach a year old. They are at the very bottom of the food chain and are a primary food source for so many predators. Taste great fried also. People who fawn over baby rabbits obviously have never had a garden destroyed by these pest animals.

@Daniel Le I could not express the fact that I hate that word without mentioning what word I hate. If I just said "I hate that word" how would you are anyone else know what the hell I was talking about? You were trying to be funny but don't quit your day job, you will not make it as a comedian.
